Note: Micron sold Lexar business (and brand) in 2017, so quality may not be the same as you remember (for good or bad).
With ANY flash drive the most important thing is to FILL IT TO THE MAXIMUM immediately and then verify contents (if no error during write). This tests the full capacity of the drive as well as the basic overprovisioning (if any) of a completely full disk... I.E. At least you will know you have a full 128gb of good cells to start with.
This also tests the thermal throttling to ensure the drive properly throttles to avoid catastrophic data loss. (Sometimes having it slow down is a good thing, lol)
By doing this immediately, you are inside the return period as the warranties on most usb drives are relatively useless.
The point I was trying to make was that SSDs are quite affordable these days and shouldn't be considered "expensive".
In no way am I crapping on this deal. USB drives are still useful in certain cases.
Again, I'm saying affordable per GB and affordable per device are different things. For some people it's about the cost of acquiring the device. A bigger pack of anything is cheaper but some don't need the bigger pack.

Again all I am saying is if one can consider this deal affordable, they shouldn't view SSDs as expensive. A 128GB SSD can easily be found on amazon for under $20 (everyday price, and probably a few dollars cheaper during a sale). If that barrier to entry is too expensive to overcome, than yes you are completely right and I am wrong. But realistically speaking, if that $7 difference makes a purchase unaffordable, than one shouldn't be browsing for deals for 128gb usb keys when smaller capacity ones can be had for just a few dollars.

(Feel free to copy testing notes to wikis for other usb drives in the future... I think it is very helpful to prevent issues later on...helps us all be slicker shoppers, lol)

you don't get it do you?
If someone has $10 to buy toilet paper and CVS is selling 10 rolls for $10 and Costco sells 30 for $20, the Costco deal is still expensive to that person who only has $10 for TP or doesn't have room to store 30 rolls or just doesn't want to get 30 rolls?
Get it? If you don't ask you parents to explain it to you.
Also, the 128GB SSD you are talking about may not be USB 3.0 or whatever this person is looking for. Stop being fixated on the price per GB.

No I get what you are saying and I don't know why you're so offended from my comments. Nobody is disagreeing with you, including me. I'm talking about apples, and you're talking about oranges.
I'm done arguing with someone that ends up resorting to insults. Enjoy the rest of your day.

That said comparing them is futile. Flash drives are slower thant external SSD.
