This thing loves to hang onto your trash bag so don't put too much heavy or bulky stuff in it and don't wait for it to get too full before changing the bag.

So true. Stupid design but it does look pretty decent on back patio...

I agree! Some people have attached flat pieces of cardboard to the inside to make it smooth but I can see that getting wet and gross. one time mine got completely full of rainwater and I had to drain out the bottom.

So this is not waterproof? I was considering to use this as lump charcoal storage. Not a good idea?

Be careful taking full bags out as they will catch on sharp points inside the bin. I've seen reviews suggesting a cardboard box inside the bin, for smooth sides, works, but haven't tried it myself.

Also, if you ever leave food waste in it overnight, secure the lid with a bungee cord or something. The lid is no match for hungry critters.

Other than those issues, I like it way better than the big grey Brute trash can I used to have in my backyard and have actually gotten compliments on it.

Definitely don't put charcoal in this.

I have two of these and they seem to hold a 40lb bag between the two of them:

Reading other reviews, it sounds like the inside is wider than the opening at the top, and it not smooth on the inside. This means if you over stuff the bag, it can be a pain to get out, and/or can tear when trying to remove.

And seems to be easily fixed with some cardboard. Could be why this doesn't cost twice this.

I have this. In response to comments above- the top latches securely and critters haven't been able to open. Over filling the bags can make it hard to empty. It will let some water in during heavy rains. It's fairly large and easy to get the bag in and out (if not over stuffed). Held up well for several years in the weather.
