I got the Advanced hard anodized set (the $30 deal with part of the handle wrapped in insulated metrial) in an earlier deal.

1. The skillets were deformed and not perfectly round. These don't come with lids but any lid wouldn't fit well for covered cooking. The base of one of the skillets was also warped out of the box and it would wobble on the stove. To their credit, Anolon mailed a new set when I filed a warranty claim with pictures of the unused skillets. If you buy these check for defects. Either QC at Anolon has slipped or Macy's is selling B-stock.

2. The skillets have a design flaw in the handle. The uninsulated metal part in the handle right next to the skillet has NO insulation from the skillet and gets as hot as the skillet. It is very easy to touch it when handling it in various situations. Part of the reason is that because the skillet is heavy enough that holding it at the far end on the handle is harder (especially when the skillet has stuff in it) because of the long moment arm. So, people are likely to hold it closer to the skillet and run the risk of a finger touching the really hot end of the handle.

This set has a better handle (IMO) and is also $30 after coupon. Still can get hot in the oven (400 max), but remains comfortable on the stovetop. https://www.macys.com/shop/produc...;;Skillets

That is the exactly the one I was talking about above. That metal strip between the insulated handle and the pan gets as hot as the pan.

The ones with the all metal handles are actually safer than this because they tend to be well insulated and don't get pan hot. The insulated part in this one gives a false sense of the whole handle being ok to handle.

It is an ergonomics problem.

I have this exact set and I have never had this problem. Do you have the handle over a heated area?

Paid this price the last time there were on sale and has worked great. Price is right! Getting another set for a friend

I can relate to the problem of the handle. I bought the exact one from last deal as well. The whole handle should be insulated instead of the far end only. I got hurt couple times alreadyFrown

I bought an entire set of this model pans from Analon 1yr ago and they have all lost between 33%-90% of their nonstick ability. Even when new they weren't very nonstick and still required a little oil to help the surface release any food. The pans I almost never use are still pretty nonstick and I can make eggs in them with minimal sticking if I don't use butter/oil, but the frying pans such as the 8.5" and 10" that I use daily have lost 90% of their ability to be nonstick, and even when I use butter or oil in them most foods will still stick to their surface very aggressively. I just upgraded to a very nice set of multi-layer Tramontina nonstick pans a month ago and they are great. I can make scrambled eggs in all of them with no oil/butter at all. I have tried starting with a cold dry pan, cracking the eggs in it with no oil or butter, then stirring the eggs with a silicone spatula as I turn on the gas stove, and nothing sticks at all. I've also tried cracking the eggs into a preheated non-oiled pan with the same result, nothing sticks. Analon's nonstick surface is nowhere near as good as Tramontina's high-end nonstick multiclad pans, or even their aluminum-only nonstick pans which I also got at the same time from Amazon called "Tramontina 80114/535DS Professional Aluminum Nonstick Restaurant Fry Pan, 10", NSF-Certified" for $30.32 right now.

My wife and I were gifted these over 2 years ago for our wedding. We love them, definitely our go-to pans. Haven't noticed any loss in non stick capabilities, or any major issues such as hot handles.

The main thing with hard adonized aluminum pans, is don't use them on high heat, especially for prolonged periods.

So you have touched that metal part of the handle next to the pan and didn't scream when the pan was hot? Don't do it if you have not!

I can take a picture with a thermometer measuring that part and post it if I felt you were just shilling. Smilie

Before you jump on this deal, consider the All-Clad 10" + 12" for $40 here: https://slickdeals.net/f/14309549-all-clad-nonstick-10-5-inch-and-12-inch-fry-pans-39-99-tax?v=1

It is very much alive with the 20% coupon if you sign up with email.
