Ugh. Need the number pad, and I can't go back to having no fingerprint reader. Hard to find an IPS panel at this price, so seems like a good deal otherwise.

Great, it doesn't have numpad.
I may return IdeaPad 3 I got from $299 BestBuy deal and get this instead. Pay $170 to get rid of numpad, cramped keyboard and touchpad on left.

This is also a faster Computer than the one you got before since this is an i5.

Yes, the only reason I get the 15.6" screen coz of the number pad. It helps when you do a lot of numbers.

i3 is fast enough. I would rather have battery that lasts more than 3 hours, more RAM and louder speakers.

YouTube vids show it has an open bay for 2.5" SSD or HDD. Not sure about M.2 slots.

Still too high for dirt cheap specs..
if mfg couldn't figure out how to make 1080p screens at the 720p prices you'd still have laptops like this with 720p

I posted this on another recent laptop deal and it got a lot of interest so I thought I would share it here in the hopes that it helps some folks out.
I got this Acer Aspire 5 model on Amazon back in March for $325 and upgraded the ram to 8gb for maybe $20 more.
Acer Aspire 5: $365
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RF1X...UTF8&psc=1
RAM: $19
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HJB2...UTF8&psc=1
This model will have the backlit keyboard some want, the number pad that I see others are mentioning that they want, and the IPS screen.
It is only a Ryzen 3 3200U but a lot of folks aren't necessarily looking for beefy tech right now with so many schools and businesses doing distance learning and meetings. I understand some users are wanting that i5 on this model and can justify needing it. I'm only giving this example for those looking for a good laptop now to fulfill basic needs. It has kept pace with anything we have thrown at it so far.
It works fantastic for work and personal use (we are not power users). Post Covid, it's price has been fluctuating heavily but consistently higher than what we paid. I mainly bring this up because most recently, during Amazon prime days, it was a lightning deal for about $225-$250 which was an incredible deal that got snatched up FAST. If you are on the fence about this laptop, rest assured, there are going to be deals to be had for black Friday. One of the worst things you can do with a laptop is settle and then be unhappy with the screen, keyboard, etc. I just wanted to throw this out as a reference point for other really good models in a similar price bracket.
