Got one the other day and I love the auto lock feature. Had no idea I'd like it better than a traditional tape measure. I recommend. OP repped

Thanks! I threw a 10ft length of my prized Milwaukee into a tight gap between my deck and foundation a few weeks and could not free it with blending/breaking it. Happy to have a twin tape to replace!

For those of you contemplating between this and a free one from Harbor Freight, one time I dropped a small box behind the closet. It was a little gap behind a baseboard between the wall and the closet, about 3 inch wide. I was able to use duct tape, wrapped around the tip of my Milwaukee, slowly extend the measuring tape down 8 ft, attached the duct tape to the box then slowly fished it back out.

If you plan primarily on framing, SAE only is fine, but for most residential users a SAE + Metric is more flexible. Certain jobs are better/require SAE, and others the granularity, easy conversions, and standard units of metric can be useful (particularly with equipment/parts from Europe/China being Metric).

Both Milwaukee and Stanley FATMAX make SAE + Metric, you can even filter to only show those on Home Depot's website. They cost the same.

Or you could buy this
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../314346644
Or this
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../314342944
which have better tape measures instead

I got this a month ago or so (at $10/unit) and I don't love it. I like the markings but it's not very strong. The other one that is going to be on sale for $10 it's supposed to be stronger but no autolock (I don't like that one too much either)
