Performance is honeslty pretty similar, however, the Fire HD is pretty useless until you sideload Google Play - and not everything works as it natively would due to that fact.
It also lacks GPS and it "feels" cheaper.
Sound is much better with the Yoga. Really comes down to what you want and need. The fire at 1/2 the price for basically teh same performance specs of the display itself is quite a good deal if the compromised Google Play system (and removal of warranty if you do so) is worth it.
As for the difference in RAM, that is basically offset by the different processors.
I prefer the Yoga, but not double the price more. And honeslty the FireHD isn't worth it unless you take the risk to sideload Google Play, otherwise it feels like an Amazon store front.
Is it fair to assume I can cancel the order before it ships?
My concern is Lenovo's return policy that says:
Customers may return products purchased from Lenovo.com in quantities of five (5) units or less within 30 calendar days from the date of invoice for a refund of the price paid.*
*If Lenovo ships the wrong product or makes an error in the configuration of the product ordered,
The speakers are much better on the Lenovo, and the form factor is a unique and real selling point. Depends on what you want to use it for.
Gaming is about the only thing I'd say the Samsung is actually better for (and netflix - since netflix won't work in HD due to a version of pre-installed netflix limitation...the hardware can handle it, the version of nexflix you can't uninstall imposes). Reading, Media consumption, Goodle Assist, etc. I'd take the Lenovo.
The least riskly way just good how to sideload Google Play Store specifically on the HD10 and the specific version (2019, vs other years). That won't get rid of the operationg system or ads, but it does open the door to other functionality and isn't as involved or quite so risky to brick your device.
This thing has 4GB RAM which will help to ease congestion if you're a tab-heavy web browser and multi-app juggler.
Also that beautiful 1920x1200 resolution is excellent! I would easily get this over Fire HD10 unless you're somehow really really into the Amazon ecosystem and Show Mode (which you could probably side-load easily).
