Just saw this... best discount I've seen on a new A7III since it's release!

Wait till black friday or pull the trigger ?

I have been waiting for deals for A7iii or A7Rii. If I don't care about video, and only do stills (portraits and landscape) is A7Rii better value compared to A7iii. There's quite a bit of price difference.

If you need it, get it. Don't waste time on waiting.

From last year's buying experience, I would buy it now if you absolutely need it but this price should come back during the holidays if you wish to wait. If you don't have any other options in consideration other than a7iii then it makes sense to just get it now. I dont see it going down further than that.

I am trying to get back into photography after a 15 year hiatus. Aside from lenses, does anyone have a opinion on this vs a D750? I am going for landscape and low light photos mostly.

It's a shame a lens is not included.

For landscape and portraits that you do not need faster AF then I would go with the A7r ii, you can't beat it for that price $1298 ($1168 with EDU discount). 42MP BSI is just a beauty. I would only go with A7iii if you need a longer lasting battery (or buy more batteries), need faster AF, need a joystick, need 2 card slots, better buffering, other than that I'll be happy with an A7r ii.

too bad "with accessories kit" is not this price for edu discount. It's definitely worth it for the extra battery and charger.

A7 iii or A7r ii is your bet. D750 is an older camera and worse on lowlight.
advantage of the A7iii or A7r ii are:
BSI sendor - better for lowlight
A7r ii 42MP - obviously more detail for landscape
IBIS (5-axis In body Image Stabilization) - can get slow shutter, can also fix blur, sharper images
no mirror - so less shutter vibration, sharper images
higher better ISO - I can get clean images up to 25,600, D750 can only push to 6400
smaller lighter more compact
can adopt Nikon/Canon DSLR lenses
more AF points
better faster AF
EVF to see better in low light situation - live display view -
and the list goes on.

Do you have any lenses you recommended for a7iii? Especially wide angle. Thanks for your help here!

My fave is the Tamron 17-28mm F2.8
If you are on a budget and don't mind primes I would get the Samyang 18mm f2.8, or the Tamrons 20mm and 24mm for $300 each
there are tons of manual wide angle lenses for less than $250
the most affordables are the Sony 50mm f1.8 - $200, or the Viltrox 85mm f1.8 - $399
Samyang also have 35mm, 45mm or 75mm f1.8 for $399

EDIT: the best all around zooms are the tamrons
28-75mm f2.8 or the 28-200mm f2.8-5.6 both can be had for $729 or more
