This offer is probably only meant for Amex platinum, gold and green card members, but on the home page in my Uber eats app, there was an offer for free 12 months to the eats pass. You get free delivery and 5% off orders over $15.

What's wild about this whole promotion is that Uber actually has their own credit card that is issued by Barclay. It started out as a 6% cash back card for all food or dine out purchases, but they dropped that quick (after about a year of the card being live.)
Now, the Uber card gets NOTHING special, except for a standard 3% cash back (which you can get with a lot of different cards.)
Crazy to me that Uber card holders do not get something like this, but someone with a card issued by a completely different company gets it.
I have an Amex, so luckily I can get this, but I still think its strange how they ostracize people who have cards with their company name on it.
This is inaccurate. Uber card doesn't give 3% cash back, not on everything. a 3% cash back on everythng card does not exist anywhere. Maybe you meant restaurants?
5% back in Uber Cash on all Uber purchases including Uber rides, Uber Eats orders, and JUMP bike and scooter rides (previously 2%)
3% back in Uber Cash on restaurants and bars (previously 4%)
3% back in Uber Cash on hotels and airfare (remains the same)
1% back in Uber Cash on all other purchases (remains the same)
5% back on uber and uber eats is actually pretty damn solid. But there are ways to get better value, depending on what you prefer. For example, I use uber a lot, well did before Covid, and I'd get GCs from grocery stores, which gave me 4 MR back on my Amex gold. I value those points at at least 1.5 cents, so that came out to ~6ish percent, but I value MRs more than straight cash back regardless, so I use my Amex gold to get all sorts of GCs for things I use regularly, like amazon, Grubhub, Uber etc.
Regardless, for those not wanting all that, and use Uber a lot, the Uber card is still a solid option. Some of us live in urban areas and prefer not to have cars. Others travel a lot for business. Point being, for many, Uber is a few hundred dollars a month cost, if not a lot more for many others. And a 5% back card is pretty solid. And its a no AF card.
No go for me; I only see the 1 month free basic deal. But I have an Amex Delta SkyMiles Platinum card. Guess this deal is only good for the regular platinum card.
My last Uber eats order was partly eaten by the delivery person. Half the sweet potato fries were missing and I noticed ketchup splatter inside the bag, last time I'm using them, back to using DoorDash
I have my Amex Platinum set already as my default card, so it was there when I logged in on the Uber Eats app. Sad thing is that Uber Eats where I live only has fast food and a few chains like Applebees and Panera bread. No actual restaurants from my area participate. We use it 1x a month for the $15 Amex Cash Back Credit. It will just make that 1x even cheaper I guess. I wish there were actual restaurants involved.
Do I have to use Amex card to pay for orders or I can use any other card? For example doordash Chase Reserve offer does not allow to pay with any other cards.
