Someone said in the last thread these don't use true HEPA filtration - that seems to be true.

It *says* it matches HEPA performance:

"Our unique combination of electrostatic and mechanical filtration that we call HEPASilent™ filtration technology sets us apart. The combination allows us to use filters that are less dense and require less air pressure than traditional HEPA filters without a loss in performance— resulting in quieter and more energy efficient air purifiers."

The fact that they tiptoe around the wording is pretty good evidence it's not really HEPA.

Huh. I didn't notice that. Should I still buy or wait for an actual HEPA purifier

Agree, although (the similar, shorter 211) still received quite a bit higher rating in a 'mag' than the Winix & others. Overall annual $ is higher though, filters etc.
I don't have air monitoring equipment yet, so I'm going with that...

The Blue Air 211+ is CR and Wirecutter recommended and doesn't have HEPA either. Just because it doesn't have HEPA doesn't mean it isn't effective.

Fantastic deal. Note that this is the 121 which is larger (and more powerful) than the 121+ that was available on Prime Day.

This model is $400+ on Amazon, but it is also larger. Depending on your room, it might stand out even more.

I'm surprised filters cost so much in this day and age...

If you believe Blueair, this filters better than true HEPA through the combination of the filter and electrostatic charging. Regardless, Blueair has the top 2 air purifiers per Consumer Reports. One of them being the smaller version of the 121. Both also were the only ones to score the highest for air purification on both high and low fan speeds. I favor that over anecdotal evidence.
