ASUS ROG Laptop: Ryzen 9 4900HS, 14" 120Hz, 16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD, RTX 2060 Max-Q for $1200 because of the overheating issue i kept hearing about from ASUS, hopefully i made the right decision...

Torn between the MSI and this Acer Predator for $150 more from Microsoft. The Acer has an RTX 2070 and a full 1TB SSD. Though I would be giving up screen size.

I haven't had overheating with that same 14" Asus G14 I picked up last week. This 17" monstrosity is certainly a different animal with a different use case than the sleek 14" Asus G14. They seem similarly-equipped though and I bet both will provide many years of use due to their horsepower. Good luck!

I bought this a couple months a go for the same price. Just a heads up, it's loud and it makes annoying robot sounds every so often. You get used to it but for the first month or so it's irritating.

What kind of gaming performance can one expect out of this? My son wants a gaming machine for Christmas. He has an Xbox One and plays A LOT of Fortnite, COD, Minecraft, etc. Would this machine be able to run this on high for these games?

Easily. I bought this laptop a few months ago and it is great for gaming. The 2060 is quite capable of running all of those mentioned on high settings.

The Lenovo 5i doorbuster seems like a better deal, same processor, same GPU, smaller screen but 240hz and Dolby Vision enabled. 16gb ram and a 1tb PCIe SSD and it's cheaper.

I haven't tried that one, but the recommended requirements show a GTX 970. This is much better than the 970.
