The price is now $24.99. I have been using Webroot for years. It is cloud-based and very light on resources. It also can be disabled completely for troubleshooting and other purposes.

Do you know if this can be stacked? Or does it start a new subscription when you activate it, even if you have time left on your current subscription.

Wouldn't recommend this. Have worked with Webroot for years. It's fine. But if you actually want protection, this is not the tool. Can't tell you how many hours I've had to spend doing a secondary "cleaning" with MalwareBytes. They are different tools but some items should have been detected. I don't use protection. Sophos and Eset tend to do better. I was in environments with Webroot deployed to several 1000s of machines. I don't hate it. Administratively it's amazing. But for protection? I wouldn't use it. Average cost in scale like that is anywhere from $0.88-$1.90 per machine per month.

It is indeed light on resources as the other person mentioned. Devs complained though because it scanned each file during compile. Typically Intel K series processors.... it can be a dog.

Wait until your subscription is done, before activating. It will not stack on top of your old unfortunately. I tried before.

Thanks for letting me know! That was crazy -- right after I posted it, they dropped the price Smilie

Webroot is probably the worst anti-virus on MacOS. And their phone app looks like something from 10 years ago.

Malwarebytes is all you really need for a Mac. Having worked as a technician I recommend against WebRoot and find it causes more issues than it solves. It frequently slows down devices.

This type of software is no longer necessary. Windows Defender + an occasional Malwarebytes scan is all you need.

I used Webroot for about 10 yrs until it expired like 2 yrs ago and it always worked great, never slowed down the computer (it's from like 2006) and was very lightweight. PC magazine gave it an Editors Choice recommendation pretty much every year because it did great in their tests. I don't know if anything has changed in the past couple of years but I highly recommend it and the price is good too.
