Yes, you will have to disable the Verizon's internal wireless so that you don't interfere with 2 competing signals.
Connect your Verizon's LAN port to this router and you will start using the Netgear's wifi.
This router will have a longer reach, assuming it is not shielded from metal or brick or dense building materials.

UNTIL i bought this router..
BUT THERE IS A FIX TO THAT.
I finally got mine to work. It will constantly fail to see the router when you first get it. You can try what I did.
I used the web url provided if you do not have access to a phone app. It was still glitchy, but eventually it worked.
Now my router is working great, with no issues thus far. After the firmware update, the app seems to work flawlessly as well.
my only concern was getting the router working at first, after that no fuss.
130 bucks is the price range for much less advanced routers, so I am very willing to put up with a little more time getting it to work. Which paid off great.
Theres always the costco return policy if it shoots the crapper. No need to return it though, working great and my speeds are the maximum that im paying for.
Would recommend for this price!
