What router are you using now? What plan did you sign up for and what speeds are you seeing? Check on fast.com or speedtest.net. and then check using an ethernet cable directly from the router to your pc/laptop. If your ethernet speeds are much higher than your WiFi speeds then upgrading your router may help, but you may also need to up upgrade your WiFi module too in your laptop/pc. The laptop WiFi module is pretty easy to replace if you're comfortable opening a laptop which is really just taking screws out and removing the lid.
Comcast 100mb, arris sb modem, old n900 router has been working well for 6 years.. Nothing is wrong and 3 work laptops, a tv and 2 tablets streaming 1080p during busy days... Not a single crash... Cant prove it to you but i haven't reset the modem or router sometimes in more like a year it seems..
N900 without antennas cover the whole 3 levels of my 2200ft 2020 house
The only thing the n900 is slow is for the attached usb. It is only 2.0 so 17MB(not mb) read and 7.5MB write speeds
I'm a total noob here... Not sure if you are just copy/paste specs or if you know the differences.
The reason I ask is because I am using a Airport Extreme Base station... seems to work but it doesn't have decent wall penetration
tried looking up specs for the Airport extreme to compare with the nighthawk listed here
I'm in the same boat as you. I have the airport extreme too and I've been waiting for a good deal to upgrade. Im jumping on this deal, seems like a huge upgrade for me.
Costco has the AX4300 every day for$199. The AX5200 at $149.99 is a good deal. I called Netgear Support and they said it is enhanced over the 4300. Up to 5 gb versus 4.3 on older 4300 etc. Meaningless to me. I'm in at $149.99. Rep to OP

Wow, if ain't broke don't fix it? If you are in need of faster USB speeds, the upgrading would not be a bad idea and you are future proofing quite a bit.
Do not buy Netgear. They have the habit neglecting to fix issues with the firmware 6 months after release unless it's a high priority security patch. Nearly every single one of my Netgear products have severe connection problems that the company simply neglects to address. Spend your money on other brands and save yourself the headache.

Expert member hopefully can chime in on this.
Which version of Airport Extreme Base station you have anyway?
I found router to have a better signal when it is placed in a higher position.
