Once you put the card in you'll never see it again. I have no idea what mine looks like since it never gets taken out. If using the Nintendo brand in the Switch guarantees something directly from Nintendo themselves due to failure, etc, then I don't think there's a need to buy this logo marked version unless if it's a good deal.
Agreed. Believe me, I wasnt speaking about pulling it out to admire it every X amount of days. I was just saying in general it looks pretty cool cuz it sticks with the nintendo theme. To me that is absolutely not worth the extra price exactly for the reason you stated. I lock it in and never look at it again.

Exceleent strategy though as a kid will say he needs an SD card, and my guess is many parents will opt for the nintendo branded one thinking that is the only one that is compatible.

I thought the Switch needed those special cards, and people were saying regular SD cards weren't working?

400gb for 60 is pretty expensive That like $15-18 more for just a nintendo icon.
The official Nintendo ones have a higher transfer rate than other name brand ones

In my experience- there is some difference between the Nintendo branded and other brands. As an example - I had purchased a Samsung EVO U3 class 10 256gb card for my switch. It worked pretty much as needed, except when I download a game. Every time I download a game it would download for some time and then fail. Multiple attempts failed. It worked perfectly fine on the second switch which had the Nintendo 128gb card. When I remove the Samsung card and download to internal memory, it worked fine...
so I would suggest get the Nintendo branded card for the peace of mind...

I'd say operator error. I use a 2 tb micro SD in mine. Works flawlessly.

Wirecutter recommends it despite the branding difference.

Wirecutter are idiots and none of their testing was done using the switch. I normally still read the web site just for the comments but their comments stopped working so I rarely bother to look at their "expert" recommendations.

256GB have been just $8 - $10 more lately, just won't say Nintendo on them.
