They just replaced these with the 'Beats Flex' which are WAY cheaper than the X used to be so I wouldn't recommend them.
The new Flex are $49 new, use the same chip but sound a little better, they auto-stop music when you snap the in-ear buds together (via magnets), have better battery life, have a reworked button design and a much better mic and use USB-C to charge. I would get the Flex for $10 more. (in fact I did, have both, really, REALLY like the flex.)
These work great and have had them for since day one. Yeah sure the battery not great but still work well.
Agree. I've had mine for a few years and they have been great. One of the ear wings did break and I contacted apple and paid like $15 for a new set. Ordered a pair of them here as a backup set that maybe I'll use at the gym.

I haven't tried the BeatsX in the OP, but I bought the Beats Flex last week and I'm happy with them, especially for $50. They sound decent, the battery life seems decent and I haven't had any connection problems.
My wife has AirPods Pro, and I think that the Beats Flex sounds better than those, though the AirPods Pro has other advantages of course, like noise cancellation, no wire between the L & R headphones and it has the newer chip for fast switching etc. But they do cost a lot more.
For $50, i think the Beats Flex makes for a great budget bluetooth headphone.
Comparatively speaking, this is like upgrading from apple watch 3 to SE, or Iphone se to iphone se 2. The user above that mentioned next gen saying "way cheaper than X used to be" wins. Def get 2020 version for $11 more or how much ever the difference is
For what its worth. This is the "old" BeatsX. The new is about $11 more.
TL;DR
I love the sound it makes. I know how to take care it and keep it working for years to come. I already have the dumb lightning cables for charging (prefer usb-c). So I am buying the old model. This is my story.

Having said that. I've been using the old BeatsX for about 3 or 4 years. Wore it to work every day. Hung it around my neck and took it everywhere. I never exercised with it until a few days ago. It stopped working.
It only died that because I totally forgot the #1 rule and that is to NEVER ever use it while exercising. Alas, I did that the other day and my workout session was fantastic. My BeatsX was great. But it died the next day. I couldn't reliably get it to charge. I think the internal connections that deal with the power connection became overheated and disrupted the connection point because if I move it slightly it would begin charging and working again.

Already had TaoTronics BH-070 for 2 years, was given a pair of Beats from sis who didn't like. No comparison, TaoTronics is much better quality sound...louder with nice, deep bass! I literally just ordered the new model BH-072 today for $35.99 -5% (clipped coupon on product page) on Amazon. Getting Sunday to compare with older model! Can't help but recommend TT, I also have 2 of their rechargeable bluetooth receiver/transmitters to turn anything wireless and connect up to 2 devices each.
I love the original Beats X. Carried it just about everywhere as it securely magnetically attach to each other and conveniently hang around the neck.
I think they sound good and battery life last well enough that it wasn't a problem. Plus, 5mins of charger gets an hour of use is what they advertise.
My first set lasted almost 2 years. Never a problem until wife launder the jacket that had the headset in one of the pocket. At the time, the Beats X were still about $140 on sale. So I looked for alternatives that can magnetically attach to each other and worn the same way around the neck. I bought a two of the highly rated Amazon ones. One of it was a TaoTronics TT-BH07 (2019) and the other MEE audio M9B. Though they were similar style, they were a lot shorter. And it kept falling off the neck. I like how the Beats X has the ridgid part curving around the neck. And the wires that goes to the ears are flat and floppy. The magnets were not as strong either. I returned the TaoTronic TT-BH07 and the other one gave away. Shell out the money for new BeatsX on sale for $90. Still using them to this day. It's been a year or more and haven't had any issues with it.
I also bought each of my kids a set when Walmart cleared them out at $21 last year. They are currently using it daily in their Zoom distance learning classes. No problems so far.
My only wish for them is that they turn on and turn odd tone should have a different chime so you know when you're turning on or off. I like how when you get close to an Apple device, the animated graphics appear to say you can connect to it.
If I were to buy again, I would grab a pair of the new flex. Price is right. I think they use the W1 chip which is in the Air Pods. The older BeatsX uses the H1 I think. I prefer the BeatsX style over the PowerBeats.
Bought these almost a month ago for $70.00. The first pair was dead out of the box, Replacement pair works fine. Was going to get a price match, but instead going to return for new Flex. The original is hit and miss it appears from all the reviews. I would rather spend the extra 10 for the newer version and hope the flaws of the older ones have been improved. I will miss the lightening charging of the old ones, but I figured that I can just use a USB-C battery charger to charge bedside instead of adding a USB-C cord to the nigthstand. I also use mine to go to sleep with.
The sound is decent at the price. Better than what you would get out of standard Ear/AirPods. But I would recommend the Beats Fllex if it were me. The Beats X Fail rate were kind of high.
These are extremely shitty. I had them break down multiple times and luckily it was always under warranty. The last time they broke down, thank god on the day I brought them in to the apple store it was the last day of the warranty and they gave me new ones.
