Sigh - but it is nearly $100 - so worth the trouble I guess
While you're at it, add a Tracfone sim and take advantage of this deal for another $85 or so off.

Specwise, this thing is pretty phenomenal for this price. 6GB/256GB, 90hz, huge battery, 5G, great design and $400.. The cameras are probably decent too, most smartphones even cheap ones nowadays have camera's that come close to 2-3 year old flagships. So this is pretty stellar if you're looking for a big and cheap phone. The updates shouldn't really concern the average person honestly, Android updates are super incremental nowadays. As a Pixel owner I barely notice any difference between my Android 11 and Android 10.. The biggest thing I was looking forward to is scrolling screenshots which even my old Samsung Galaxy S6 had, which didn't make it's way into Android 11.

Apparently, there are quality concerns, but just buy it outright with a credit card and you're good. As a Pixel 2 XL and 4 XL owner (as well as previous Nexus's) I think this is a better deal than the Pixel 4a IMO.

Solid deal at this price, if you don't need the absolute best . Even better if it possibly drops to $350 during BF/Cyber Monday.

FYI: The still photos from this camera are definitely not going to be as good as the Pixel 4a. But I just checked out some videos and the video quality is definitely much much better than anything from the Pixels, it looks even better than my Pixel 4 XL.. Which isn't saying much since Google has been using the same exact sensor for like 4 years and refuses to upgrade their camera sensor, even on the newest Pixel 5.. The video quality does appear to suffer from rolling shutter, but I mean, it's a smartphone.. Even expensive DSLR/Mirrorless cameras suffer from rolling shutter. Overall it takes great video, and good photos.

Not sure why I wrote this long comment since I just bought a phone a couple months ago and am not a Motorola user.. But hopefully this helps someone who's on the fence.

How much better performance does this 765 chip get over Pixel 4a's 730?
765 is the chip used in 4a 5g and pixel 5

The screen issues with this for are for real and there is no solution from Motorola that I have heard. I went through 2 of them before giving up. Really liked the phone otherwise...

The screen issues seem scary. But do I get this, the Moto Stylist or wait for something else? Recommendations?

I currently have a G5 Plus, but the screen is starting to bulge.

Curious, how long did it take to see the screen issues? And your issues were the normal tint problems?

I just received mine from Amazon. (Cot damn ordered early afternoon and it's here already.) It looks and feels like a very nice phone. Above the $400 range that's for sure.

The only thing I'm not thrilled about, and it's the new norm now so not a shock, is how "thin" it is. That screen ratio is crazy. Just so damn tall. My Note 9 looks like a box next to it. But besides that, the screen itself looks nice. AT&T TV looks great. Phone boots up quickly and no stuttering.

Now if there are no screen issues down the road, this is definitely a great buy at $315 with Amazon egift deal. I'll just have to wait and see what happens. My biggest thing will be battery life. I'm at 4 days with my Umidigi Power 3 which is insane. And you get very used to that battery life. I'm hoping for 2 full days with this thing.

Thanks. I had to pull up a different review of 765 vs 730G, but the two chips look to perform about the same. Thanks!

Spending this kind of money for Moto anything is not for me. Dismal c/s and warranty issues, they are still having speaker issues (sound goes in/out), and just one software upgrade. Lenovo is not anywhere the quality of Samsung or certainly Apple where both hold good value a few years later.

Only get the Velvet if you know you want a second screen. I had the V60 with a second screen and didn't really find it useful.
