Unlike conventional stud finders which use only 1 or 2 sensors, the Franklin Sensors ProSensor 710 uses 13 sensors simultaneously to detect studs. This multi-sense technology eliminates the calibration step other brand stud finders require. Just put it on the wall and press the button. It's quick and easy.

The ProSensor 710 can detect multiple studs simultaneously. It accurately displays the center and edges of a stud at the same time.
  1. Quick and Easy
  2. Accurate and Deep Sensing
  3. Instantly Finds Studs - No Calibration Required
  4. Displays Stud Center and Edges Simultaneously
  5. Detects Wood and Metal

Costco carries a similar one for around $30, so I am not sure if this slick enough.
I believe I bought mine around $20 with a $10 off manufacturer coupon around 2 years back and I am really happy with it...

And yes Project Farm did give high marks for this one...

This was a "buy first, ask questions later" one for me, so...

I have a Zircon finder and one of those strong magnet finders. They work ok, though could certainly be easier (quicker, more reliable).

Is this Franklin much better for basic home, residential use (drywall, wood studs 16" oc, newer construction, etc)? Has great reviews.

Yes it is. I was looking for price to come down. This is the best Stud finder based on the reviews.

Fantastic company. I have the regular 710 and it's been on the fritz lately. I was all set to buy another one because I've had mine I don't even know how long and it surely is out of warranty, but I gave them a call anyway. They're shipping out a new battery board free of charge. It's so rare to find a company that stands behind their stuff like that these days, so if you're on the fence (especially between this and a knockoff), get this.
