Dang just bought 8 from Amazon yesterday at $35 a piece. Looks like I'm cancelling that order. Thanks!

You don't have to have a subscription to link it to Ring Alarm. If you are subscribed to professional monitoring and the smoke detector goes off, they will call you and notify the fire department. If you monitor it yourself, there might be a significant delay until you call them (unless you constantly look at your phone or are at home).

Just have your phone read your messages out loud. I am amazed at how fast credit card charges go thru when checking out at Aldi and Walmart....they want their money quickly, most of time before I even walk away from checkout my phone is letting me know there was a credit card charge. (Unless you have someone sending you obscene messages, like your mistress...lol)

Thanks...How long do the batteries last on these detectors? I have some wired ones that have probably reached end of life but also have some battery also.

Based on the battery reading on the one I installed earlier this year, 89% after the 6-month of use, I would say 4-5 years .

I had these, DO NOT PURCHASE! There is a known issue with these where they will start the low battery constant chirp when the battery life hits 83%. So you must constantly change batteries. First Alert is aware of this issue, when I called they quickly replaced the 3 units I had, however the replacement 3 had the same issue.

Also, these are not interconnected.

Wish they made hardwired with zwave but then you would only need 1 to report when the others go off

FWIW, I've been using two of these for about two years and I've never had this problem.

Would these pair with ADT Pluse's Z-wave?

Check your code for these being compliant. I think some codes are switching to the 10 year batteries.

The ones from BB are not Z-wave - or am I missing something?
