For every stranger online that says the game is not worth it, you'll find another stranger that swears the game is the best game ever. In other words, do your own research (i.e. watch some reviews and gameplay on YouTube), and make your own decision on if this game is for you.
As someone that has played more JRPGs in my life than I care to admit, I just found this one a little "too much". There's a lot of systems at play and I never found myself having fun like I did with Dragon Quest 11 and Octopath Traveler. My two cents for what they are worth.
Just look at gameplay on YouTube. Slick deals is not a game review site. The few comments here aren't helpful.

I have this game and honestly, I dislike the fighting system. Not to mention the controls were not my favorite. Perhaps having a fighting system similar to Genshin Impact would've worked better for this game.

Damn. I want more "Triple A" type "big" games for my Switch that's on its way to me now (internationally) and I was thinking this might be a good buy...the comments here are discouraging to say the least. Has anyone truly liked this game ?

I've played a ton of JRPGs and personally this is one of my favorites. To each his own!

I bought it when it was this price on Amazon, and I'm having a blast. I'm about 28 hours in on chapter 9. I think I might be halfway through. The music, the voice acting, the sound effects, animations, enemy design, and variations in fighting styles between the different characters are all top-notch IMO. If you've ever played an MMORPG, it's basically the same thing except you're by yourself offline. I never played the original or 3ds remake, but from what I hear they made a lot of quality of life improvements in this one. My two gripes I would mention so far is that first, while the story started off pretty interesting, it has gotten a bit stale where I am. Hopefully, it will improve, but I have played games with better overall story, no doubt. However, the sense of camaraderie and dialogue between the playable characters is very well done. Secondly, the world is very big and while there is a nice quick-loading fast travel system, you will be doing a lot of running around from place to place. Thankfully, the presentation, atmosphere, and music of most of the areas are beautiful enough that it may not bother you too much. I hope that my opinion helps.

Just finished beating this game yesterday literally, lol. Good game, intriguing story line. However, honestly, the fight system is a bit difficult and it was hard to get into in the beginning, but then I found myself hooked on the story..

May not be everyone cup of tea and XB 2 has a more engrossing and deeper battle system. This has a great story-line and overall great game. Just beat it and easily 100+ hr game with all the side and secret quests including the ultra bosses type enemies as a bonus to fight
