Why would anyone use this these days? Lot of baterias in your kitchen and it smells nasty. Use mesh strainer instead. It s a money waste and not useful. I had to remove mine.
I used to post these when Sam's would have the 1hp ones all the time for $80 and get nothing. I have no idea why now this is the best thing ever. SD is fickle at best.
Timing I guess. My garbage disposal just started crapping out. It's going to be the first time I had to buy one.
Also, Sam's club is something you only get a membership for if Costco isn't around. Amazon is accessible for everyone.
Does anyone know if this unit will hook up to the ISE sink connector. Did not feel confident enough to replace the sink seal connector.
Any advise greatly appreciated
not sure what you're talking about, but the waste king is super simple to install, might be little more work when it comes to a dishwasher setup, but not difficult.
and quite frankly, it's a MUCH better garbage disposal. Quieter, stronger, has magnet to catch stuff, and better catching system in general.
$99 vs $79
next model up from the american standard would be a $300 ISE (mom has this and it's not much better than american standard). Waste king -> American Standard is a big jump up, the AS is so much better.

I use it on a daily basis, strainer is not better, and there is no smell, probably because I use it daily? The waste king does the job, but there are better options.
1.25 HP American Standard, much better than the waste king. The waste king is pretty solid and reliable, but it's loud comparatively, no metal catch, and the straining thing kinda sucks.
Just bought one after the great SD advice.
I had ISE badger1 with the house. It rusted out and leaked after about 6 years.
Bought a replacement as I did not want to mess with the plumbing. It rusted out in only 3years.
ISE seems total crap.
Ordered this from Lowes with price match and free shipping.
Not sure if I will install or get Lowes install. Not as young as I used to be.
Installed today. Removed a 1/2 hp "garbage disposal" brand which had rusted fairly good. Took longer to remove the old than install.
The drain and dishwasher fitting was a mirror image of the old unit. My old looked like an ISE set up.
I went the oath of rubber gasket rather than plumber's putty. Likely regret that decision but for now no leaks.
Just installed mines as well. Replaced a 10yo 3/4HP Badger that I had to take on and off every time it it had issues.
Purchases this deal and am satisfied with the simple install. It was definitely lighter than my Badger. I too opted to utilize the rubber gasket in lieu of the plumbers putty. So far no leaks
Question... does it have a clicking sound right before the disposal activates? I doesn't bother me much but though it was odd...

Perhaps if you live in a 3rd world country and electricity is a luxury
It looks like the 3/4hp has a removable plug but the 1/2hp doesn't specify that. I really only need the 1/2hp but I need to hard-wire mine. Is it possible/easy to remove the plug?
