There is no doubt this is a decent machine with this price, but the screen is a little bit dark.
This is very common with AMD processors, which are receiving 250 nits screens since AMD is more targeted towards budget consumers. I have an old Dell laptop also with 250nits and the Dell screen is much brighter than the one on the Vivobook. I ordered a Lenovo Legion 5 with a 300 nit screen and will be comparing the keyboards and the screens between the two and then decide which one I want to keep...

Legion is heavy like rock. I got one from Costco and returned it later. Although Legion has dedicated graphics card and slightly faster than Vivobook but I didn't see any difference in the screen brighness/quality. The Legion charging unit is heavy too (more than 1lb). Vivobook is best for portability and Legion is best for desktop like home use.

I am thinking of returning mine. Just came from a staples store and every keyboard from the laptop display models they have available is much better than the keyboard on this laptop.

Most of the components in this laptop have been received praise here and the one thing I care about is the screen. Received the product this weekend and compared the screen side by side by with my old thinkpad T480s. The ASUS screen wasn't sharp at all and I don't think I can tolerate staring it for hours a day. will return it.
I just found myself a better deal (in my opinion), so I was wondering if Staples gave you two any grief returning it after opening it. I took another look and have to agree the screen is a bit dull. I will do a wipe to reset it since I had to log in to get a good look, and I assume you did the same.

Hard to pass this up. Incredible specs at this price. Will probably check it out and see if anything better comes up this month.
The return window was initially shown as 14 days, but I just looked again, as this is day 14 and see "Return eligibility expires on 1/26/2021". Glad to know I can return if I find a great deal on a better machine in the next week.

I returned mine and kept the Legion 5. Altough it's a different type of computer, I found it more exciting and the screen and the typing experience is much better. I reset mine to windows initial configuration, staples accepted it.

Staples wanted to send a courier to pick it up, but I wasn't comfortable leaving it outside for "1-5 business days" so they let me take it to a local store. They barely looked at it and I got the refund email before I walked out. I ended up with a Dell touchscreen, 11th Gen i7, 12 GB RAM AND 512GB SSD for about $50 more after a bunch of discounts and rebates
