Wish Amazon would price match or at least get to the $699 price point.

Yes, it has 8 on board soldered, but there's a slot free that you can put another 8 in.

8 GB DDR4 3200MHz SDRAM Onboard memory, 1 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion, total up to 16 GB SDRAM, Dual-channel
Which type of ram I can buy? This is the first type I'm learning about RAM so need some guidance.
Will this suffice?

This seems like a good deal... the only thing thats making me hesitate is the screen. What does everyone think? It has 8 GB soldered but a free slot to add memory. The 1TB SSD is very nice for this price range... and the Ryzen 7.
I have an older intel version and the screen is really junk. they did update with this model but unless you be sure that the screen is IPS I would skip. The version I have a screen that has terrible viewing angle and color.

Whatever the reason is, this laptop hits every checkbox on my list except for the touchscreen. I am so used to using one, it would be a step back to lose it, but this is soooo tempting. Not up up to speed on Asus laptops, but I do know they make solid Chromebooks. Guess I need to keep looking.
Check Open box on BB for i7 if you are fine with it. You will find couple of options in $650 with 4k display but DDR3 ram from Dell etc

I've never used a touchscreen on a laptop that wasn't a 2-in-1. I've always avoided touchscreens but I don't see a use case for them that would be better than using a mouse. I'm looking to get a new laptop and wondering what I've been missing.
Honest questions: Can you tell me what you use the touchscreen for? Are you using it for work and if so, what type of work? Do you use a mouse at all and if so, do you switch back and forth between the two?
My laptop and my son's Chromebook are touchscreens, and my daughter's Chromebook is non-touch. Generally, I use a mouse, but once in a while, I like to use my finger to get to something faster. Using the mouse is easier overall, but when using the calculator, for example, or I need to do a quick tap of something on the screen, it's nice to have the option. Whenever I use my daughter's, I find myself tapping the screen for things and she just laughs at me and has to remind me it's not a touch (she wishes she had a touchscreen). I use it for surfing the web, email, shopping on Slickdeals and some Excel and Word stuff for a non-profit.

Yea, I saw display unit for 15 inch of 2019 model and display was meh. But this one have 178 degree angle to it points to IPS. Similar model on amazon, Asus confirmed it's IPS 250 nits 45% NTSC.

You had this laptop at 699? How is the screen?
Used 95% indoors...no complaints for everyday tasks (office, light video streaming, etc.). Outdoors, it could be brighter, but more than usable and worth the tradeoff for me.

And how is the built quality?
At $699, hard to complain. At $599, no brainer imo.

Was window shopping "MIL-SPEC" graded models across brands, but outside my price point.

Echoing that...was denied a requested credit after purchasing to price match.

How is it compared to the hp best buy or Walmart deal? I do need to get 1 to ssd and that is 100ish for decent one. And the cpu upgrade too on top but not good gpu.

I think it will take 200 to get 1tb ssd and the 8gig ram for the hp models...but I do need 8gb more for this model too..

Thank you. I went ahead and got one for my niece for college. I think if she adds another 8 GB RAM she should be happy with it. I considered getting her the Lenovo Flex Ryzen 5 deal at 599 but it went out of stock before I decided.
