Your friend may be right. I say may because it depends on your use case. If you want to use this for programming/work then 1440p is probably the minimum resolution at this size. I have an older version of this monitor and can say even for web surfing I wouldn't go above 27in at 1080p. The text is almost not sharp at 1080p/27in. Good enough for web browsing and reading the casual email/webpage though.
No need to hope. It doesn't have speakers.
Just hooked this monitor up a few hours ago from the $90 deal posted here the other day. It has VESA screws in the back. Came with an HDMI cord as well. Connected it to my Mac book pro via USB-C hub and it looks great. It is not height adjustable, but can tilt like 5 degrees forward and like 20 degrees or so back.

Wasn't this monitor a frontpage deal when it was $120?

This seems like a great deal.

Isn't 1080p bad or something at 27 inches? My friend said 1080p is okay for like 24 inches but need at least 1440p at 27 inches. I don't understand the logic fully, but I bought the dell 23.8 version they had for sale with this model at $70 and it performs quite good
