Great deal on a Metabo sliding saw that I've been watching. The normal price is around $400

Maybe not a big deal for a casual DIYer but it piqued my interest due to its zero clearance slide which allows it to be placed against a wall without interference.

I'd like to pick up a saw like this, but everything that I've read (which, admittedly, isn't a lot) makes me want Dewalt's LED light system, which requires no calibration, versus the laser system that everyone else seems to use. Did Dewalt actually get a patent on the LED light system, because I don't understand why no one else is doing something similar?

I got this one from Lowe's several months ago at $149 too. It is a great sliding miter saw particularly at the price I paid. Sliding miter saw is much more versatile than non sliding compound miter saw. I would pay more for a sliding miter saw. My only complaint is the laser guide. It is hard to adjust.
i wish they would bring the compound miter/tablesaw all in one to the states. not sure why they dont think there's a market for it here. it would alleviate the need for a sliding miter.

This or the Harbor Freight Hercules 12" slider for $299?
I had a bad experience with Harbor Freight miter saw. For me, if a tool requires some sort of accuracy, or quality, I'd avoid HF. The sliding miter saw I bought from HF cuts the wood crooked! i was so pissed i wasted so much expensive wood. I was cutting wood at 45 degree angle, but some weird reason i think the sliding rail is crooked because the cuts are crooked too.

I ended up selling the HF miter saw for cheap, and bought a same Metabo HPT for $199 at Lowes and I'm happy with it. Much better and accurate cuts.

The small end goes into my 2.5G Shopvac while the large end fits tightly on the saw.
It does not fit my Ryobi ONE+ vac.

Do Lowes coupon generator website still work? Tried a couple sites and none of the coupon codes were accepted.

Reviews look good. Been in the market for a 10". Whats the benefit of this over the 10" ryobi that was on sale for <150 a few weeka ago? Would someone who does basic diy projects at home notice the difference?

On this one the saw slides forward on the rails so you don't have to have a bunch of space behind it where the Ryobi the rails slide on the base and stick out the back so you need a foot of clearance behind the saw. hope that's clear...

Those are just not good enough. They aren't good miter saw and neither good table saw . So you end up with something that is poor on both

Been watching this for the past few days and finally picked one up today. But not really sure if I need the sliding feature - the non-sliding Metabo miter saw (C10FCGS) for $89 might be enough for my needs.
.... Buy first, decide later Smilie

This is an awesome saw. I was like a kid in a candy store when I was playing with it and learning it's features. I love everything it does and all the configurations you can use it in. I paid $150 over the summer from Lowe's. It is still worth it at this price though.

The non sliding will only cut a 2x4...not quite a 2x6. The sliding will cut up to a 2x12 if I remember correctly. These are both at 90 degrees.

Deciding between this and the RYOBI 5 Amp 10 in. Sliding Compound Miter Saw for $179, any significant differences?

Yes, that's true. And I hardly ever need to cut wider than 4-in planks. That's why I think that the non-silder may be sufficient for 'my' needs.

The Ryobi is quite good, bought it for $130 back in 2017 BF sale. It was mostly true right out of the box, and once setup properly it was very accurate. Sold it when we moved, got more for it on CL than what I paid Big Grin
The Metabo has fixed rails for the slide (only the saw slides on the rails), so you don't need space behind the saw to operate it. For the Ryobi, the rails slide back & forth so you need space behind the saw to use the full cutting range.
Also, Hitachi (now Metabo) usually has better build quality & reliability than Ryobi. Not sure how much of that carried over to Metabo.

Awesome, I appreciate the rundown! Maybe with the lowes gc deal I will have to buy the Metabo.

Probably not. I've used one for years doing diy stuff. Now I'm dabbling into woodworking and need precision, I'm looking to upgrade. Ryobi has worked well for me
