So it looks like I missed the steal of a deal with the $149 Walmart Ideapad 3. Does anyone else have one that's close to that deal? I'm looking for one for my 6yr old who has some special needs and needs a small laptop for some of his classes. I don't want a Chromebook because we want to install minecraft on it for him to learn some different skills.

Nope that was the hottest deal for this year. It was the #1 deal for us so we jumped on it the second it went live.
Did you not see the ads before it was live?

That thing wouldn't have run Minecraft very well. The $249 one was your best bet. A fully capable adult who is experienced with using a computer would have troubles with that $149 Lenovo. Get your son something that will work. See if this is still in stock.

If that is out of your price range, you can get a more-capable used or refurbished laptop on eBay. I haven't seen anything new and good and under $249.

No they wouldn't. With an additional 8GB of RAM (12GB total, which is cheap and easy to install) it will work flawlessly for office tasks, social media and YouTube, which is all that most adults will ever use it for.

I do agree with you that a more robust machine should be purchased for gaming purposes.

Incorrect. It can do 12gb ram. Plus it plays it fine without an upgrade haha.

For those looking for this its going in and out of stock, the deal alert doesn't work. You have to sit on the page and refresh it, or just check every hour. Its worth it.

After a couple tries I snagged this laptop easily. You do have to be fast on the checkout trigger though.

I watched a video on youtube and this laptop is entirely modular, when you take off the back (A few screws and a pry tool is needed) you can replace any part you want including the battery, hard drive and ram. This makes me very happy. Now I just have to go for one of the other cheap laptops that are available for another family member.

I tried a couple of zipcodes around me (portland, or) area and was able to find a couple of stores where I would have been able to place an online pickup order for, and they didn't have the (x number left message) so assume they had 5+.

Great to hear!!! We got this for our 10yo son and the key is that it can play minecraft. We got a 4GB stick of ram to add but now I may not even need to put it in haha.
