Is the Google Nest Hub good to place on a nightstand? And does the display get dim enough to be used as an alarm clock in the night?
Oh yeah for that reason it's pretty great. The sound on it isn't very good though if you plan on using it for music or something. For an alarm clock, it's great
Still no deals on the new Chromecast w/ Google Home
The deal of the new Chromecast with 6 months of Netflix for $90 is pretty good. Basically gives you the new 2020 Chromecast (with remote, 4k, etc), for like $6 plus tax if you were going to pay for Netflix anyway. https://store.google.com/us/confi...tv_netflix
Just a tip, most (all) cellphones have a scanner app you can download. There are a bunch out there. Take a picture of the page you're scanning and it converts it into a pdf. It's been working great for me, and it's free (unless you pay a dollar or two for additional feature)
Adobe Scan is the best app for that. Also does OCR on the scanned document.
So I had to change my review on this product over the last couple months because of a problem I encountered with my nest hub. I bought my nest hub when they came out and have loved it ever since. Recently the sound completely stopped working and after months of texting someone at Google support I finally got an answer... "this may not be the answer you're looking for, we can no longer replace your nest hub, " yes I know the warranty is up but this isn't a problem I caused this is a machine malfunction and they should at least offered a place that I can pay to get it repaired. I'm glad Amazon is having a sale right now on the alexas.
I doubt you could expect any different from any vendor of a piece of technology outside of warranty. For something this cheap it is just not worth the hassle.
It won't be such a good deal once you have to replace the ink cartridges for the first time. It's probably the worst deal listed here.
That's why I plan on buying a couple of them and destroying the environment by keeping the ink and throwing these away*. DD has a (small, reliable) printer that uses this ink. Even if these are starter carts, these are 1/2 the cost of the standard carts and 1/3 the cost of XL carts. Two more sets will likely carry her through the next couple of years of low volume printing.
(*well, there's a good chance I'll strip them of their stepper motors, glass, and other useful parts for personal projects, but you get the idea)

Wow what a fantastic contribution to the thread. Thank you so much!

Edit: as others mentioned don't purchase this solely for a scanner. There are good apps free for the iPhone and the one I highly recommend is Evernote Scannable out of everything I have tried so far.
This is also NOT a HP printer so it not eligible for the instant ink program. There is no affordable ink option for this machine. This is just going to take up space in a landfill once you realize how expensive the ink is
These cartridges are very easy to refill using cheap refill kits from eBay. They don't have a chip to deactivate them like many others. I'm using a comparable canon printer using the same style cartridges and have been very happy with the results.

Oh there are ink refill kits? Can link me an example? Ty

You're upset that a product out of warranty failed? Why does GOOGLE need to tell you where to get it fixed? They are incredibly cheap...a repair will cost you what a new one cost. Just buy another one. Especially after admitting you really like it.

Regarding sound quality, its better than a Mini...but less than a Home. Its great on a nightstand.
I'm gonna WFH for at least another year and my company is on G-Suite. Is the Nest a good compliment to view my calendar and maybe emails as they come in throughout the day.
