the 50 Inn is Roku made by hisense. It was also $30 less. why would anyone get this instead? Makes no sense. if you couldn't order the onn during 1 of 3 windows, you just brickseek, go to the store that has it, ask customer service about your TV ordered being cancelled and they'll bring one out for you
Are Onns still made by Hisense? Consumer reports seem to indicate that they are from Element electronics (https://www.consumerreports.org/t...t-onn-tvs/). I'm not entirely sure who makes insignias; digging on Bestbuy subreddit seems to suggest that they used to be assembled from LG/Samsung parts until 2016 and after that Hisense took over the manufacturing for bestbuy.

Picked one up after debating what to replace my 46" Panasonic 1080p 3d plasma with. Plasma used way too much energy (301w) and heated up the room too much. Didn't want anything larger than a 50" TV in the bedroom.

Initial impressions are that color accuracy (after slight tweak on PC input) are great, blacks seem fine. Whites are a bit washed out and almost too bright on my PS4 Pro . It almost gives a glare effect, and I'm having trouble finding a good balance between the PS4 Pro HDR settings and the TV options. I did have some random black screen flickering on the PS4 Pro, had to manually set it to 2160p - YUV420 to fix (was using 2160p - RBG by default on Automatic).

The thing that is driving me nuts the most about this TV is the software. I appreciate Alexa/Fire being built in (and it runs well), but it defaults to the Fire App EVERY TIME you power on. There is NO way to default a HDMI port as the starting input.

Pros: Great price, low wattage, speakers get fairly loud without distortion. Unit is light for mounting. 4k works and looks fine considering no wide color gamut and high nit brightness. Runs cool. No noticeable latency on PC picture setting. Amazon Fire runs well and plenty of streaming options if you don't have a 4k Fire stick or other device (gaming console, etc).

Cons: White balance options are pretty limited. Low brightness overall, and brightness washes colors out quickly. Not great for bright rooms, and iffy viewing angles. Controller takes a bit to get use to (TV settings/inputs/etc). Could be a little bit thinner for the low weight. HDR is limited by low brightness and lack of WCG.

Bottom Line: My PX65-G1 blows this thing away, and considering the price I expect it to. A bit hard to switch between the two, but if you're just venturing into 4k and on a budget (or as an extra), this is a great deal after a few tweaks.

Aww, really? That stinks. It's fine for our intended use, but for many family situations (for a grandparent or kids watching cable), that'd drive me crazy.

You actually can change that.

On the Fire TV Home Screen > Go To Settings > Display & Sounds > Power On > Last Input

Just got these today. They're absolute crap. The screen has cross hatching which makes it unusable for a monitor. I have a similarly priced 4k element that is true 4k. Thanks for wasting my time best buy with your junk.

How can one tell about screen quality and if it's true 4k? I don't see anything wrong with it or know what to expect to know what 4k should look like. Any tv I buy is always better then the previous so that's all I can compare it to.

What a lifesaver! Why they included two menu systems in this TV I'll never understand. Time to dig into this one now.

The box states SAMSUNG and the Model is UN50NU6900F.

I have not opened it yet.

Anyone else get this TV?

Same here, I had also hoped to use it as a monitor. The 43" TCL I have is really very good for that purpose. Admittedly I'm pretty close but on this Insignia 50" I can easily see the dots that make up the characters. It's not too bad on black text but on bold blue text you can see an outline. I'll keep using it for a bit to see if the 50" size makes sense for me.

Got my order delayed for pick up when I bought these the hour the deal dropped. Will be so mad if I get cancelled. Was supposed to pick up today but instead got delayed.

If anyone in NYC wants one, just get in touch. I was going to use it as a monitor but it doesn't handle text as well as my current 43" TCL and anyway 50" is just too big. Works fine as a TV though. And there's always this ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B42_VTm80U

is your TCL the 2020 4 series? And do you know if the 50 inch version of your TCL also works well as a monitor?
