I've been doing the office chair dance all summer because of WFH. Here's my take on Hyken vs Dexley after extensive seat time in both.

I am 5'10" and 175lb. Fairly average leg and torso length.

Hyken: as others have stated, the Hyken is slightly shorter, narrower and less depth than the Dexley. The "headrest" is more of a neck brace/rest; as I sit in it, the headrest touches right at the nape of my neck. It's very comfortable when I lean back. The lumbar works really well too, supportive and not stabby. I feel the width is a bit narrow for me; I feel a bit constrained by the arm rests when trying to stretch out. The front seat edge digs a bit into the back of my lower thighs; I bought a footrest to try to mitigate this. The chair overall sits me more vertical, which is not the comfiest but posture-wise, is preferred.

Dexley: the extra inches dimensions in each axis really do make a difference. The headrest actually supports the head as opposed to the Hyken neck brace. The front seat edge moves a bit closer to my knee, and I feel I'm sitting more fully "on" the chair. The biggest thing I didn't like was that you seem to sit "on" the seat as opposed to "into" it. The Hyken feels a bit more enveloping and the mesh seems to have slightly more give. Also, in neutral position the seatback has a slighter lean back than the Hyken, which is more vertical - after sitting in the Hyken for a while, the Dexley seemed too lounge-y. Armrests are a nice distance apart and I never felt enclosed.

The Hyken has lockable tilt while the Dexley does not; I never lock it at a tilt so this feature add didn't entice me. Both recline nicely with good resistance.

After demo-ing both for a while, I decided on the Hyken by a slim edge because I prefer the more vertical neutral position - helps with typing and long work days at the desk. As always, YMMV as office chair fit is a very customized thing to your own body. I would urge everyone to go to Staples and sit in both. And don't pay over $150 for either, they go on sale often. Hope this helped someone
For people above 6 foot dexley is better for short people hyken is better

They literally gave you a definition in the quote you used. laugh out loud

Some might say 5'10" + go for Dexley...

But also Dexley has a wider seat surface area so it's better for wider people too.

I purchased this recently from the last deal I was waiting for.

I am 6'4" 275 lbs. Its mostly negatives for me and here is why:

- It only locks in the complete upright position.

- I usually use my computer a few hours a day and it either in the morning or at night. Either way I am typically in boxer shorts. The mesh itself feels sturdy and supports me however it is uncomfortable after about 20 minutes. It makes grids of the pattern on my skin. It may be better after I purchase a blanket to throw over it or just by wearing pants.

- The headrest has no locking position and is actually very short compared to a standard chair with no headrest. My head sticks up above it about 6 or 7 inches making it a neck rest.

Edit add - The chair is actually narrow. I feel pressure from the outside edges as my legs hang over the width of the chair.

Pros:

- Quick and easy assembly.

- Armrest adjustments are a decent height. They are comfortable to rest on as well

- The seat length is just long enough. I could do with maybe one or 2 more inches in length.

Side note: I asked my wife to try and she found it uncomfortable because she was unable to cross her legs as the curvature of the seat made it difficult.

I'm 6'4", 240lbs & fat af. I store a lot of my weight on my hips and legs. I'm using the blue dexley right now to sit through lectures. I also have the hyken which I was using. The dexley is wider and definitely the best option for me, but if I were under 6' & < 200lbs, either would work. The hyken was a tad too narrow for my fat ass, hips and legs.
