1080p on a 30" is gonna be yucky
Before my 1440p 34" I had a 29" LG IPS ultrawide that looked gorgeous, and you do get some extra pixels with the ultrawide format. It would be the largest display I'd personally recommend at this resolution, but you're also getting a 200hz panel, relatively cheap.

Good if you aren't used to 2k, have poor eyesight, sit far away, have a $1000 GPU, or never play games newer than 2016. My GPU cost $500 (RTX 2070), I average 110 fps in battlefield at 1920x1080. So at 2560x1080, over 100hz is pointless unless I spend about $1000 on a new GPU

Debatable. I game on a 34inch 1080p ultrawide and think it's totally fine. In fact I much prefer the higher frame rates than having a 1440p panel at the same size -- esp given I only have an rtx 2060. To each his own.

Actually, its vertical screen length is about the same as a 24" monitor. So unless you think 1080p 24" is bad..

If this was a 30" 16:9 I would agree with you.
But if you take your time to read the OP instead of instantly jumping out "1080 SUCKORZ!!!1!", you would realize that this monitor is a 21:9. Then you would go to a screen size calculator and realize that a 30" 21:9 is the same height than a 16:9 24", so the pixel density is equivalent.
TLDR... quoted post is wrong.

This panel is not very tall, so 2560x1080p actually looks somewhat comparable to the ppi on a 24 inch 1920x1080. (I have this exact panel).

last-gen VA panel with horrible horrible ghosting (visible black smudges) and extremely limited dynamic range...bought one, returned 2 days later...

I have this as well, Sceptre-branded, same specs, decent monitor. It's exactly the same height as a 23" 1080p that I have mounted next to it. I think it's a good solution for mid range GPUs (RX590 in my case) / casual gaming. It's not bad for productivity, I like the extra width.
