Ah, I had assumed the lasers would be much brighter than the bulb models.
You would be correct, but that is only a benefit of some laser projectors, cause some of them, not all can put out 5000 lumens. The more important feature is unlike a real bulb a laser can hold its color and luminosity for the full life span unlike a bulb which gets dimmer with use overtime.

Amazon seller is someone else not Amazon. Any input on that.

One is a 4k projector, the other a 1080p projector. Both are bright. The 1080p projector you posted has a very low input lag and would be great for gaming.

I chatted a while back with benq cs about the refurb. They offered me it for 850
That may be a one off for you then. Still doesn't negate that this is a good deal.

I picked this up and arrived last weekend. Its much brighter than expected but still really need a proper screen to maximize the use. I am ble to get 135" and ceiling mounted it. PQ wise its a downgrade from my Vizio M series, but it may be due to projecting it on the wall. I can notice the difference between 4k and 1080p content, which was surprising because i could barely tell on my LCD tv.

overall very happy with the purchase.

Can someone recommend a portable screen to go with this? We have vaulted ceilings in the main family room area so I can't really install a screen in ceiling so I want something that pulls up from the floor and at that point I am considering may be its just better if I look for something portable so I can use the projector and screen in multiple rooms.

I am still debating between this and a short throw like Vava or just going all out and buying something high end like 5050UB but given this is going to be my first projector I am thinking about just getting the cheapest option like this one and see if I can really tell the difference between this and a projector 3 times more expansive like 5050.

How does this compare to Optoma UHD 30 which has much higher contrast ratio and higher lumens as well. It might still be available on the Amazon warehouse with 20% off bringing it at a lower price point than this one
