[California Residents] $1,500 Clean Fuel Reward for purchasing Electric Car

+14 Deal Score

$1,500 Clean Fuel Reward is now available for California residents for purchasing an NEW (after November 17, 2020) electric car. You should be able to stack this with the California rebate and local utility rebate.

Looks like this replaces the utility rebate but then again an instant discount is better than having to send paperwork in and wait for a check.

So a new bolt right now is about $23k after taxes. Does this mean that there would be $3,500 in rebates after purchasing?

You get this $1500 directly when you purchase the car, not valid for previous purchases. Great deal especially when you combine it with other rebates. You may be able to stack this with the $1k Edison rebate if you buy your car before Dec 31st of this year as that rebate is being phased out.

Great if you could get dealer to add this rebate in addition to other incentives & matching competitor quotes... Most participating dealers that I've spoken to when shopping for the Bolt doesn't seem to want to provide further dealer discount.
Shopping around might still be better if you can leverage having dealers compete with each other for your business.

Damn... just picked up a Model Y a few weeks ago. Wish I would have waited a bit.

Man I want a Rav4 Prime so bad but they are mark'd over MSRP everywhere in the state.

As far as this deal it seems you have to purchase from one of the listed participating dealers, seems like they will all be in on the take and just add it to their profit margin

Slick, looks like open to everyone. No income restrictions. Previous clean air rebates doesn't invalidate.

Why do you say that? The program terms seem pretty straight forward and does not exclude participation in the other programs.

True but for PGE rebate at least (also ending this year) you need the final registration (not temp) which comes with your new plates. Since that program also ends this year its going to be real tight hoping it comes before the end of the year if you buy ASAP. I'd say December would be too late for sure.

SCE site specifically says not eligible if received POS rebate

This also looks like it is only specific dealerships which may not have the best pricing.
