I've always been skeptical about a vacuum this expensive as in is it really better than a $100 vacuum. Is it worth it at $180?

Got the $99 Tineco from Walmart's Black Friday deal. So far I love it, strong suction and long battery life on normal mode. I hope it last for a few years.

I haven't experienced the cheap versions but I hesitated for a long while before getting a Dyson and that was a mistake. They are so convenient being cordless to quickly clean stupid messes you may otherwise ignore. Particularly the crumbs that are on the edges of baseboards or the dust build on the baseboards themselves. Plus the cobwebs that build near the ceilings or cleaning the fan, etc. then consider using it for the car where it is a huge PITA to vacuum with a cord. If the cheap versions have the sucking power, I'd be surprised but either way, having the cordless vac is a major convenience and I recommend it.

I was looking for a soft roller head because I have lots of hardwood floors. Can you buy that separately since there isn't a deal on Absolutes (I think this is the only model that has the attachment standard)?
The "fluffy" version is sold on Newegg for 200 which is what I bought and it comes with the soft roller. Believe you can buy the attachment separately too but it isn't so cheap.

No point of arguing. Yes, Dyson prices are too high. That's why I only buy when they go on sale! The point is Dyson can keep the prices high because there is a demand for it (it is not a decorative item that people spend money on it....looks good factor) !!!
"there is demand" and that is my point. It is a sad commentary on the reasoning skills of the average consumer.

So many reasons not to ... the price, the planet, the 401K ...

Bought a v7 hepa for around this price just over a year ago. Decent little vacuum for our kitchen/dining floor. The battery just crapped out. Dyson is sending a new battery under warranty. 2 year warranty, just make sure you register your product incase they haven't improved the battery life.

If you have enough budget, spend another $40 and get a V8 at Target.
If you are looking for a midrange cordless vacuum with limited budget, go to Walmart and get a Shark rocket pro for $140.
Both products mentioned above are better options over dyson V7
Thanks

Do not buy a Dyson refurb unit. New ones should be good unless you get a bad one (which could be possible for tech items). I am using my V6 for more than 5 years without any problem.
I bought a brand new one, and the battery died within a year. Research shows, though, that this is not uncommon for Dyson based on the number of complaints one can find about the batteries. That's why I'll never touch one of their products again.
