Snagged a pair of stage 1. What's the deal with these being too bulky for certain exercises? Like what?

Very tempted to buy these. I've had my eye on the Ironmasters, but they have been out of stock for months (they are going through monthly raffles since supply is so limited). Main issue is that 90 lbs is on the lighter side for certain exercises (flat bench, bent-over rows, Romanian DLs, etc.), and I don't see an option for a larger attachment - seems to only be available on the commercial DBs?

Perhaps it's worth investing in a power rack + BB + plates for the heavier lifts. Anyone have any suggestions for those?

Edit: Acted too slowly - stage 3's are sold out again Angry
If you are intending to go higher than 90 for compounds I'd recommend investing in a barbell, rack and weights. I use the powerboocks just for accessory work.

Overhead pullovers with a single block is kind of hard to do.

Thanks - that was my thought too. Just struggling to figure out where to put a rack in the house. Ideal setup would be power rack + adjustable DBs (Powerblocks or Ironmasters), but not sure if I feel comfortable having all of that weight in a upstairs bedroom (the one free room in the house).

Is the pricing on these the standard price, or is this a sale price? If the latter, I suppose I could always buy stage 3 on a later date when they're back in stock.

Yeah, it's more a basement/garage type setup. It's what I had at a previous house and loved it. Unfortunately, the basement is crap at the new house, so I am limited to just the PB 90s.

Yeah, space is the thing. I ended up clearing my guest bedroom during the start of the pandemic and built my gym in there.

I haven't seen discounts from powerblocks directly so yeah this is standard pricing.

I bought stage 1 and 2 first then I bought stage 3 later.

Very helpful - thanks. Looks like the incremental shipping cost for the Stage 3 expansion kit would be the same whether I bought it now or later (assuming the standalone shipping cost for the Stage 3 kit is the same as the Stage 2 kit), so I'll grab 1+2 now.

I got order of 1090 Bowflex coming, about same price with taxes and shipping as this kit with 2 expansions. Is this unit overall better?
I'd go with Powerblock

I had the Bowflex 552 and they were very bulky compared to pb

Do any of you have any of the Powerblock DB stands? Trying to figure out if there's anything special to them or if I'd be fine keeping them on the floor.

I've been a gym-goer my entire life, so setting up a home gym should be fun/interesting.

Seconded, the compact stand is sturdy and doesn't wobble like the other one that costs more.

Yeah but it's 180 lbs... ordering weights from almost all the retailers costs allot.
When I ordered 380 lbs, 4 pairs of 45's, from Rogue it cost me $192 in shipping.

found it easier to have the bench inbetween both DB, try it for a few sessions. if not, you can always get a stand after

Thanks guys. Can't seem to find anything in stock, but I'll keep an eye out. Still need to get a good adjustable bench + power rack/barbell/weights, so I have some time.
