R-tings widely considers this their best "bang for your buck" television, especially at this price. Not good for rooms that require a wide viewing angle / using default speakers / ppl without a Roku / Firestick / etc... since the built-in smart functions are subpar.

For those looking to pair this with a PS5, specs show only HDMI 2.0 ports. You need HDMI 2.1 to achieve 4k 120fps.

Beware of banding/ color gradient and blooming issues with this model

Maybe they have addressed these issues in the newest model?

While not as bright the Sony X900F or X950 is a better overall set

Have this set and have no picture issues. It has been a great tv for us and got it for this same price.

I have this but in the 65 inch. I don't see any banding issues with it. Much better local dimming than the 2018 (has twice as many zones).

FYI this is last year's model. No HDMI 2.1. For $150 - $200 more, you can get this year's.

Ok...Sony better upscaling chip , panel uniformity and color

Here is the rtings.com reviews

Note the sentence about banding

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...tum-x-2019

BUT...like everything else having the right expectations for the price is a beautiful thing

I got this one at Costo a few months ago. I have to say I love it. Have run some tests on it. Very deep black and vibrant color. Very beautiful screen

Some downsides as mentioned previously. The build-in smartcast operation system is really subpar. The TV is slow...lagging remote response and sometimes even crashes requiring reboot

As to HDMI2.0 vs. 2.1, Since I don't play console games and I mainly use my TV to stream movie, news and TV shows, that doesn't really affect me.

I recently added a home theater 7.1.2 system to this TV and wow, it was amazing. So I would strongly suggest to have an external sound system to bring the best out of this TV.

I mentioned that in the OP, but thanks for pointing that out.

Where have you seen the 2020 P Quantum X for $150-200 more? The P Quantum maybe, but the PQX is around $2,000.

The viewing angle is bad even for a VA panel. Controls falls off. I returned mine, and got a much cheaper x800h from Sony. The contrast isn't as good, but for the people sitting off center its better. If you're always in front of the tv, than get the vizio, its looked amazing, like OLED amazing or better dead center.
