My first deal post! I just ordered one for store pickup, will update this post with a review after I setup at the office tomorrow morning.

Update: Picked up the monitor this morning, great looking monitor with minimal bezels and a fast easy setup. Straight out of the box its calibrated nicely though I will need to adjust to my preferences. I am mostly using my system for tech and basic graphic design work along with some light audio and video editing. At the moment my laptop is being stubborn and defaulting to the Intel GPU, updating drivers so I can take full advantage of 1050Ti. Very good buy at $260
No way, this guy codes too fast for 30Hz...
Great monitors paid $359 earlier this year. Make sure your system can run them at 60hz. At 30hz they flicker. Currently using a new MacBook Pro to drive these at native resolution USB-C to DisplayPort.

Yes. It would be much smaller unless you set the it to 1080. However, for best viewing is 1920x2160 for my current set up. I'm going to be building new rig so my current old card can handle this setting at 30hz which sucks. But it is going to be much more smaller if you are coming from 1080.
Thanks.

Other than the vesa mount issue, would this be a good monitor just for work (reading text, etc). Replacing an older 27" monitor, and I have a 2nd 24" monitor as well. Thanks!

Guys , I'm looking for an 4k monitor for my Photo / Video Editing work. I narrowed it down to two options (1). this Samsung UR55 or (2). LG 27UL600-w from Best Buy for $279.
Which one you recommend ?

I've just purchased both of them, and in my eyes, I personally like the Samsung colors and accuracy over the LG (after minor tweaking). However, LG gives you a range of control to calibrate it, possibly more accurate, than the Samsung. I have DisplayPort 1.2 in both LG and Samsung and I seem to get 4K, 60hz, 10 bit on the LG, but I can't seem to get the Samsung past 8 bit, unless I drop it down to 30hz, which actually shows12 bit. if you want a better overall monitor with the capability to do more, then I say LG, but I find myself going towards the Samsung for photo editing imo.

edited: I believe all running 4:4:4 Chroma subsampling. did downscale to 4:2:2, kind of still stands. in HDR mode, LG is much better, but HDR is mediocre at best.

Thanks you. This is very helpful comparison. Do you know if any of these two comes with factory color calibrated? Did you get this monitor for Photo/Video editing ?

There are some but isn't very good IMO. but from what I see, a little tweaking on either monitor, I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with Photo/Video Editing. I didn't get it for that reason, but I'll be sure to use whichever one I decide to keep for that reason. Statistically, LG been in the monitor game for quite some time, it has LED vs LCD in the Samsung, 50 nits higher brightness over the samsung (although it says supports HDR 400), Slightly higher DPI-P3, Far more adjustments, Saved profits, seems like the chose on paper. but it's ultimately what you choose. Maybe go to your local Bestbuy and see if both monitors are on display.

edited: someone else's 2 cents on the monitors. so it can go either way https://slickdeals.net/f/14537951-279-99-lg-27ul600-w-27-ips-led-4k-uhd-freesync-monitor-with-hdr-silver-white-27ul600-w-aus-best-buy-starts-11-28?page=12#commentsBox

Np. Keep us updated on which one you decide to go. It'll probably help a lot of people and get rid of my curiosity. I might just end up keeping them both

Would this be a good monitor for the Xbox series X/PS5?

Works fine for me with the ps5, though I'm unsure how it compares to the lg ul600 for next gen.

I recorded a video of the ps5 and hobbit bluray on the samsung ur55 using a galaxy note 8 camera. The quality looks better than what the camera shows.

According to CNET, both monitors are LED LCD's.
