These will stack onto a current family membership
You can stack up to 36 months in total
If you already have an individual membership and want to upgrade to a family membership, you can use the remaining days of your Nintendo Switch Online individual membership as a discount to purchase a family membership, up to the full cost of the family membership.
The value of your discount is based on the number of remaining days in your individual membership at a rate of $0.05 USD/day
You can convert from individual to family membership through the switch eshop
You can stack up to 36 months into an account at once (not 37).
You can save codes beyond that to replenish later, when doing so will not put you over 36 months. In other words, when you deplete down to 24 months left, you will be eligible to redeem another 12 month card. So you can stock up more than 3 years now for use later.
I wish they had discounted Individual memberships.
Don't forget 5% with Target card or Discover It (target.com only, not in store), which will take $1 off.
It says 11/22. Right now it is 11/18 or 11/19 depending on your time zone.
So should you see the sale right now?
You don't NEED to use multiple accounts, but then, that's the point of "overpaying" on a family plan as opposed to just buying an individual plan for cheaper.
But this discounted price is the same price as an Individual plan at full price. But if you really have no need for multiple accounts, it would be better to wait for a cheap deal for an individual plan.

Do I need to connect this to multiple amounts for it to work?

Thanks for this. I'm a Switch noob though - if I will be the only person in my family using the actual Switch,'is there *ANY* point in buying the Family plan? Or is it just "better" to get the individual plan?

People like to split the cost. You could have 8 people split $20 or whatever you paid for it. You see a bunch on ebay selling a spot on someone else's family plan.
