Ever change a u-joint? Many heavy applications require twelve point sockets. This set is appealing because it's box fits easily under sets, bunks, and side mounted tool boxes.
Edit: many engine bolts in newer equipment also require twelve point sockets.
Not since the 80's. I have a bunch of 12 point old craftsman in my chest that I rarely use. I'm still thinking about this or a similar set. Thanks for the edit I don't work on newer stuff much.
I never heard this brand before I always get Stanley tools and sockets and sets they last better I don't want nothing to break on me cuz a lot of stuff from China breaks you want to you're trying to get a tight bolt off and watch the the bar snap off and I'll harbor freight sell stuff too but you know I got to take a chance I guess.
Anyone else have an issue where none of Lowes pictures load on mobile? I have an S10 and the pictures either don't load or load gray. It happens at Lowes and nowhere else.
Good luck getting individual socket replacements. The Lowe's around here stopped getting new stock of them a couple years ago.
Exactly. My Lowes has almost completely clearanced out their Kobalt tools and are replacing them all with Craftsman. If Lowes doesn't have the specific tool you need to replace, they'll tell you to deal with the Kobalt 800 number with varying degrees of success. Since the individual sockets, wrenches, etc. are all gone, they're not going to bust open a kit to provide you a replacement and they aren't going to give you Craftsman either. Kobalt was a Lowes house brand (Like Husky at Home Depot) whereas Craftsman is being sold in at least three different places in my area (Lowes, Northern Tool and Ace Hardware).
Out of the three brands mentioned (Kobalt, Craftsman, Husky), I'd say the Kobalt is likely going to be the worst to deal with on warranty claims due to it basically becoming a dead brand.
Craftsman appeared to die shortly after Sears started going under but they came back eventually (although with arguably worse quality), so maybe some other retailer will pick up Kobalt in the future and continue to honor the warranty.
I'm trying to figure out why no-one has included the $99, 217-piece Craftsman toolbox deal from Ace Hardware. I'm my opinion the "Versastack" toolbox itself is superior than other offerings, along with the high quality tools including:
3 x Drive Ratchets: 1/4-in., 3/8-in. & 1/2-in.
111 x Standard and Deep 6-Point and 12-Point Sockets
2 x 3/8″ Drive Spark Plug Sockets
8 x Ratchet Accessories
14 x Combination Wrenches
1 x Magnetic Nut Driver
16 x Nut Bits
28 x Hex Keys
33 x Specialty Bits
What kills me with all these sets is all the 12 point sockets Who uses a 1/2 in drive with a 12 point?
I'm with you. Wish these sets had 6 point 1/2" drive sockets. I've been looking for a deal on those but will likely have to bite the bullet and get a set or organize my crap and see what I am missing from my Craftsmen sets over the years. Not sure why 12 point became the norm for these sets.

"I've never heard of these people" "but muh stanleh is betuh bcuz they tuk r jobz in chynuh" how can you in the same sentence say you've only ever used 1 company because it's better than all the other companies You've never tried? I'm sure it was real cool seeing the wheel, fire, and electricity being invented you boomer.

I bought a set VERY similar to this 6-7 years ago for 150 or so. I have loved them and have used the tool guarantee for one ratchet so far that broke. They didn't have that model anymore so I got a WAY higher end one than what came with the set originally for free.
One thing I LOVE about this set is the draws (other than the lid) all pull out and just sit perfectly inside my standing tool chest. I don't even know where the carrier is anymore, but it has kept them nice and organized inside my tool chest for a long time.
I own this set and can attest that these are good tools. However the box is garbage. The tools fall out easily and some fit too loosely in the molds and others are tough to get in or out. Otherwise this is a great deal and I love the tools.

= Higher quality toolbox, less filler items.
