Depends which one you are comparing, Netgear rbk50 has a 4x4 5Ghz dedicated stream so would be superior. The rbk20/40 has 2 2x2 5 Ghz streams one dedicated for backhaul, so similar. But the orbis are generally costlier
Bought this on Amazon and returned it. Totally underwhelming, less coverage than 1 Linksys Velop dual band node. Was wondering why there were so many used ones on sale on ebay and FB marketplace.I think the transmit power is set to low to medium for them to work as mesh, so sort of feels underwhelming for a single router usecase. You can't select wifi channels and it was always making a wrong choice on the 2.4 Ghz band. At close quarters the speeds are great. Only for someone who just wants a wifi appliance.
Curious if anyone has tried or will try connecting devices directly into the LAN ethernet port. I am getting faster speeds through wifi than through ethernet, both at the router connected to the modem as well as the router being used as an access point. For example, my Sony x900e is testing 150-200mbps over Wifi, but only 20 mbps wired over ethernet.
Just got my 3 pack I bought from this thread. I bought these Nest WiFi routers to replace my Google WiFi routers. I made the assumption that this 2nd gen product is better than the 1st gen product... which I've had zero problems with but I plan to expand my WiFi devices next year so wanted the later tech thinking it would be better in handling max WiFi devices. My Google WiFi, by the way, has been flawless even in the area of auto determining whether to use 2.4 or 5 ghz for all my smart plugs.
Just looking for an opinion if you guys think the 2nd gen is truly better and handling more WiFi devices than the 1st gen? Whichever one I end up not using (right now I plan to replace the 1st gen with the 2nd gen for my router function then mix both 1st and 2nd gen for points) I'll be setting up at my dad's house and he doesn't need anything near as good as these so either will work fine for him
