You can't get a 3080, so you can't build this yourself.

Why buy potatoes when you can grow them yourself?

Not a bad deal. It would be tough to beat this price if you built yourself...

But if you did you would end up getting higher quality parts and more upgradability. But you would also have to deal with the pain of actually finding a 3080 for sale. It took me about 2 weeks of relentless tracking and failed attempts to secure a 3080.

My similar build I just finished came out to $1850 (with a 10700k instead): https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Ide...ved/gyqXyc [pcpartpicker.com]

This i9 is overkill with the 3080 if you are gaming above 1080P (and if you have a 3080 you should be). The deal yesterday with the i7 was better, but it is no longer available.
I agree. For the same $1,976 after tax I got a Rtx 3080, i7-10700k and 64gb RGB ram.

This was $2,130 after tax but with 16GB ram. The 9-10850k is overkill even for serious gamers.

Please don't buy, all the components are low end one.

Go to ibuypower to custom build one, I brought one around $2100 few days ago with the new gen Ryzen 5600x CPU and MSI 3080 gaming x trio, with much better specs on all other components like Gen4 nvme, corsair 750x, MSI B550 gaming plus, be quiet case and heatsink etc; they have plenty of 3080 cards to choose form and they are in stock, 5% coupon, and early Dec delivery.

If you buy this HP it is likely you will start changing out components like better fans, MB, AIO etc to make it normal and you end up spending more but still with an unknown 3080 and intel CPU.

I learned THE lesson after I brought one pre-built from bestbuy for my son which was onsale, but end up spending few hundreds on upgrade the crappy components later.

Considering how that exact 5600x and 3080 was $1500 last week from Cyberpower with upgraded mobo and psu you got ripped off hard. https://slickdeals.net/f/14539946-cyberpower-thump-100-desktop-ryzen-5-5600x-16gb-ddr4-1tb-ssd-3tb-hdd-msi-geforce-rtx-3080-ventus-3x-1563-7?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

why would this be a horrible deal? considering this is a micro-atx setup I think you'd be hard pressed to build for 10% less than this price. (part picker isn't going to give you the best prices but i went cheap on everything and it was still 2k)
CPU: 400
Mobo: 200
PSU: 150
Case: ~80
RAM: 100
SSD: 120
AIO: 50
GPU: 750
W10: 60-80

That's why this is a good deal in current times. PSU's and GPUs are outrageously overpriced at the moment due to multiple factors making PC building cost prohibitive.

Another thing to keep in mind is that 10th Gen CPUs will be obsolete by Q1 2021 where their prices will drop even more.

In summary: if someone needs a gaming PC now, this is a pretty good deal. If you can wait until prices normalize (or just need a 30 series GPU), then you're better off waiting.

So, it seems like the mobo is old since it doesn't support NVMe gen4

That is good deals, my point is don't buy the HP pre-built one with $1900, build one with good components with similar price.

I've been holding out to buy a Ryzen 5900x... this is tempting. I want the RTX 3080. I wonder, if I bought it, perhaps I could take the GPU for my own build and resell the rig separately. What price I'd get, that's the question...
It's a generic HP custom rtx 3080 2.5 slots.

With the i9 reaching $299 (microcenter) and reg price of the 3080 $699 it's hard to see how all the other components add up to $1k

Much better deal if you gather your own copper and silica sand and build the PC yourself like any real gamer.
Except there is nowhere to buy a 3080.

I encourage people to read the Amazon reviews before making a purchase. The motherboard on this unit is a custom HP with an inaccessible
BIOS. That's right, you can't make modifications whatsoever in BIOS. And apparently everything in the system comes overclocked and the components get REALLY hot.

Yes, specs are nice and the 3080 is desirable but buyer beware.

Well, intel doesn't support PCIe 4.0 currently on any new motherboards
