I don't really see why it would be necessary. Most power outages are no more than a few seconds. The reason why most dumb alarm clocks have a backup battery is so you don't have to reset the clock everytime the power goes out. With these devices if the power goes out and then comes back it's automatically going to sync the right time again so no real need for a battery. Also take into account that a device like this won't even run on a 9 volt battery and even if it could it wouldn't run for very long at all before dying. This isn't a few leds on a clock. This is like a little mini computer. Also since this uses the internet and the internet goes with the power you are kinda screwed even if you can keep in on.
That depends on what type of government secrets they discuss.😁😁😁
So nobody in development or testing thought about adding a 9v, C or D cell battery for backup?

Voice activated alarm clock is the best and worst. I have the smaller/older version of this. Works amazing using Google commands. Plays my spotify music when I tell it to. I can even make it play a certain Playlist. Tells me the weather, set multiple alarms, tell it to snooze, and probably more that I have not even attempted yet.

I have not tested yet, but since it works off of Google, if it looses WiFi connection the alarms may not go off.

When I cut the cable I missed the time the box provided under the TV.....this works perfect even has temp and night light. Display auto dims when the room is dark, and of course Google is always listening, but you can turn the mic off.

I have one of these from the last time they were on sale. Really like it as an upgraded version of a regular clock and I personally like the minimalist look vs the full color screen version.
