Guys (and Gals), you don't have to put in your SSID NOR your Birthday. I put a date in there, then deleted it, then clicked next so i have nothing put for SSID or birthday. Then I input my bank info, and thats it. Done.

Managed payments is eBay's way of regulating their monetary claims directly vs. using PayPal. I'm sure it comes from people who rip someone off then unlink the account and leaves eBay with no recourse.

For actual sellers, it may be good because it'll help to mitigate some of the double fees with accepting PayPal. For guys like me who used to use eBay to sell some odds and ends, they can kiss my %#*. What the *%#! do I look like giving my SSN to eBay? Just so they can send me a 1099? Then I've got to show a COGS against my gross eBay income? Hard pass, $15 to sell my SSN, managed payments is never gonna happen for me. I've already moved to other platforms.

I've been enrolled in managed payments for a couple of months now and am pretty satisfied with it since I no longer have to deal directly with PayPal. As far as I'm aware, if a buyer wants to cancel an order, I no longer get stuck with the 2.9% processing charge. Also, buyers no longer have a 180 day return period through paypal. Yes, eBay still sucks as a whole for sellers, but having to deal with one less crap company like PayPal works for me.

Is receiving payment through eBay any cheaper than paypal? They prob decided to keep those profit margins for themselves, heck now that they have a monopoly, they'll prob raise payment fees in a few years!

If they send you a 1099, you can bet the IRS is getting a copy.

Not everyone sells things for a loss, especially if they get more than 20K in payments per year but even if you do, you still have to report to the IRS your payments and deductions.
Not sure on the specifics of it. Technically if you don't have a business and it's not for profit it shouldn't not count as income. You probably have to deduct it completely.

As a seller I can confirm they pocketed the 2.9% PayPal normally took. They take all the fees upfront and take 2-3 days longer than PayPal took to payout. It's honestly a downgrade for me as a seller, not to mention pisses me off I'm required to give them banking info. Literally zero benefit to the customer and a ton of benefit to eBay.

Quite the shitty company these days TBH.

This is not worth it because their fees are 2-2.5% higher in every category.

Better than the threat they sent everyone else where if you don't you'll stop being able to list items.

Managed payments suck; they take 2-3 days to process, subtract basically the same fees as paypal, and then take out your final value fee immediately.

Over 75,000 in sales and 1200 transactions since 2011. I left eBay because I was forced into managed payments. I absolutely hate it. Slow payouts, automatic return approvals, taxable now etc. What a waste. I thought PayPal was bad over they year. Hindsight is 20/20 screw managed payments.

Mercari sucks, too. Lowballers everywhere, fees just went up, and zero protection for sellers. It was great until a few months ago.

Why buy from Ebay? Their prices are more than Target, Walmart, Costco & Amazon. Returns are a hassle. Sellers are rude af. I can't think of one good reason to buy anything from them anymore.
WTF are you talking about? Plenty of stuff on ebay you can't even buy in stores, returns are super easy, and 99.9% of sellers are great. You sound like a trouble buyer to me who whines and complains when they don't get a seller to give them the item for free.

eBay is a horrible selling platform now and I refuse to sell anything with them. They side with the buyer at all times so if you sell anything and they want a refund you are forced to give them a refund, even if they scam you by sending you a box with a rock inside as a return.
EpicBobEbay only continues to get worse. Squeeze more and more out of their sellers as postal prices go up.
Yeap. It can be very hurtful to sell things on eBay as a small seller, especially when dealing with illegitimate buyers' remorse. Another example: Buyer claimed the item is not as described, or swapped/sabotage the internals.
^^ That made me seal most of my expensive electronic items with serial holograms when selling them on eBay these days.
