yes they will sag, depending on weight you have on it and of course the size of object. Used one to stack quart bottles of oil and it is sagging after about 8 months. You can run 1x2 braces, on their edge, under the shelves to stiffen. 2x4 laid flat can be used as well. I've been swapping to 1/2" OSB and painting them so liquids don't bother it. If your storing large tubs that would reach or hang over the edges then the sag would be not much at all

I bought a red one (with metal mesh shelves) for about $85 from Home Depot a few months ago. I am quiet happy with mine overall. Each shelf is rated at 500lbs; however I was little worry when I placed 6 car rotors (200-250lbs?) on one shelf. The shelf sagged with the weight of the 6 rotors and other car parts; I removed the rotors. It is great for plastic bins and not so heavy items.
Agreed. These are great shelving units when you're storing heavier objects

I got this for $50 at lowes a while back. They are holding up great, but the boards themselves can sometimes cave in a little and almost fall through. The ledge that holds them is very small, maybe 1cm. You could probably fix this if you run thin wires or tape under each shelf. Or maybe screw in a support beam in the middle.

Does anyone know how these compare to the $60 whalen (I think) brand ones that Costco sells?
The Costco ones are much better if you ask me. I originally bought 2 of these Muscle Rack ones from Lowes, but with the large shelf size, the 48" supports had a habit of flexing out and not holding the shelf in the center, even with a fraction of their rated weight on them. The Costco/Whalen ones use thicker metal pieces, and have L bends in their structure that give them much more strength in that direction.

I ended up returning the Muscle Rack ones to Lowes and bought 2 of the ones from Costco and haven't had any issues, and at the time, the Costco ones were even $5 cheaper.

I recently purchased these (which I think are a smaller size) to use as shelves in a walk in closet that's just for storage ... but the particle board smells so bad I had to take them out of the house and I'm going to return them.

I still have the original particle board and no warping. I keep my shelves in a PA basement. When the particle board starts to sag, I plan to replace it with plywood. 6 yrs old and they are still doing fine

Unfortunately not. They aren't available online, only in store. They're the same dimensions as these ones, but with black hardware and black shelves (I think laminated wood). I remember them being ~$65-70.

Cheaper to varnish them than to replace with plywood.
Does that work? Never heard of varnishing particle board.

This company will have my business forever. I purchased an Edsal shelf secondhand and it was missing a piece. Called them for a replacement piece and they just sent it to me. I got it the following day. Customer service was great!!

You will have a problem if they are in a humid environment. One of my shelves completely rotted out, didn't have a dehumidifier. Not sure if that would have fully prevented the mold contamination of the bottom shelf.

Speaking of which does someone have a recommendation for replacement shelves, I would keep the frame because it's ok but need to replace the shelves with some better plywood... Any suggestions folks, I am fine cutting down a larger piece
