Compare to the Weatherproof brand at your local Costco warehouse 3 or 4 pairs for $10.

Does anybody have recommendations for which types to wear for Southern California? I'd be mainly wearing them around the city and occasionally going on short hikes.
That's the great thing about wool. It has great temperature regulation. I wear mine all year round in New York. The only thing that changes for me is how high I want them. Lower height, e.g., anklets, during the warmer months, crew and quarters during the colder months.

No show would be the best for socal. I have both light cushion and cushion. Light cushion for summer, cushion for winter

Light cushion, CoolMax for me here in Florida if that helps at all.

You can get 25% off every October at GoBros. II usually pick up a few as I transition over my socks. The extra 15% off code makes this the best deal of the year.

No thicker than Light, and that would be for hiking. I picked up a pair of Medium this go around and that's going to be for when I'm outside for a few hours in < 30 degree weather. Doubt you will have that issue. I usually wear Light when curling. The shoes are pretty warm but in contact with ice the whole time and activity level is pretty high unless I'm playing Skip. I also wear Light when hiking year round. Thinner socks tend to make rocks uncomfortable.

I just bought 3 pairs of Darn Tough socks 3 weeks ago. I almost regretted spending $22.95 via amazon...who spends that much on ONE pair of socks? They are highly rated, so I figured, what the heck, ill try them.

I mainly got them for a trip through Utah. I just got back from my trip yesterday. I literally wore the same 3 pair of Darn Tough Socks for the entire 10 days. After over 50 miles hiking in them, i can honestly say these things are totally worth it. Super comfy and never started stinking. Believe the reviews, these things are pretty solid. If you can get them at a discount like this deal, even better!

Yep, the DT are great. The weatherproof socks and even the Kirkland wool socks have worn out over time. All my DT socks are still in good shape.

Edit: Dang, just got the notification 5 hours later.

some of my light socks have worn out but that is because I have a lot of tile in my home. But regardless they lasted 2.5 years and it was a simple warranty form and 2 bucks for a first class label to send them in and they gave me credit to buy all new pairs or spend the money on other socks. awesome company and even better socks.

Honestly the best thing about the socks is the elastic doesn't wear out. I know they don't recommend putting them in the dryer but I always do and the elastic always goes back to feeling like new when I put them on again.
