Le creuset is much better
I have several sizes from both brands and would not say one is really better than the other. Generally like the Staub better for searing, braising and long simmer of whole muscle meat based dishes as I think it retains heat better, and prefer the Le Creuset for soups, chili and bread baking.

Also for me the Le Creuset is better for pan sauces as I find the smooth finish bottom to be easier to develop and scrap the fond.

Bought the Cherry one last time but it was 119, and since I'm in the return window and haven't opened it I'll grab another and return the previous.

Really wish Amazon would just pricematch/return funds.

Don't know how this compares to tramonita but my Staub french oven is far superior in every way to Lodge with exception to price. This is a fantastic price. Alas, I already own 3 dutch style ovens.
Lodge bare cast iron is great. It's cheap and cast iron pans have never been expensive. You are having that experience because Lodge doesn't actually make any of their enameled products. They license their name out to Chinese factories. No part of their enameled products are made in the USA like their bare cast iron.

Curious to know what kind of food people use to cook in these
The big bonuses of enameled cast iron are that it doesnt rust (unless you don't take care if it and it chips), you don't have to season it even though I have read you can but I don't know about that to confirm, it's easier to clean and you can use detergent and soft scouring pads and you can cook acidic foods like chili and sauces in enameled cast iron where you can't in bare. That is why enameled dutch ovens are a must have. You get almost the same performance as bare cast iron but can cook stuff you can't in bare

Overpriced for a 4qt cast iron
This isn't bare cast iron. Enamel is expensive and good enamel is even more expensive especially with the QA that Staub and LC do.

what makes it better? disregard how it looks, how does it perform better. Thanks!!
The Staub I own has the lid knob brass vs cast handles on the side of my Lodge, the seal around the lid has better cast than my Lodge and the dimples on the inside of the lid minimizes the condensation when removing the lid. These are 3 features of just the lid. The bowl/oven itself: the Staub has thinner walls than thre Lodge but weighs just as much. Taking out the Lodge, I feel like camping while the Staub feels like french cooking - that's just me

Williams Sonoma and Sur La Table have slightly different color options at $99, FYI. Grabbed the Royal Blue.

I have this in turquoise and I love it. I use it for stews, soups, baking, rice, you name it. It's also amazing for frying as the temperature keeps well while cooking.

I honestly think 4 quarts is enough for 4 people. Between my husband and I there's always leftovers.

Guys, don't buy this as a gift for your wife or girlfriend. I gave my gf a dutch over once and she hated it.
Giving her a pearl necklace is much preferred.

Still a great price... I wonder why they are liquidating? maybe a new design coming in?

MUCH better? really? maybe its like 5% better (i really have no idea) but I highly doubt its MUCH better. besides, even if it was 20% better (if you could quantify that somehow), a Le Creuset is way more than 20% more ($120)

Curry for me mainly.
And potatoes. Once you get the feel for it, there is nothing better to cook a potato in. I think because none of the moisture escapes
