Just a note that version II of these variable NDs came out recently, so it's expected that the retail price will come down permanently. Who knows by how much though.

I believe the only useful difference between I and II is the haptic feedback to feel stops while eye on the frame. Anything I am missing?
I think that version 1 is better because you can do smooth exposure changes without the haptic feedback "feature". From reviews it doesn't seem like version 2 has better color cast/vignetting/flare resistance.
If anyone is getting hit with Tax I would be willing to ship my 82mm to you for this price, PM me. Long story short I bought to use with the 14-24 nikon z mount lens these then ended up never using them sadly because my lens has a 112mm filter thread so it is just not practical
What is the purpose of this? Cut the light entering the lens via polarization instead of closing the aperture? What's the benefit? I've never seen filters like this and I'm curious.

I'm not a photographer but it's basically like sunglasses for your camera. When I shoot with my Sony in the sun without the lens my shots come out super washed out, there is a lot of glare and in general the harsher notes of the sunlight drown the image in harshness. The filters let's my lens take way better pictures and see more clearly and I have a cheap $30 filter from Best Buy (made by platinum). If you're not a professional/don't want to spend the coin I recommend starting out there and working your way up to the nicer equipment

with this, you can shoot wide open, be it 1.2 or 1.4 on a sunny day and not over expose.
or for long exposure shots ( photo ) This also can help on shots with a lot of snow in frame.
with edition 2 out, I think this will be the new normal price for the kit. still haven't pull the trigger lol. Dont think I will even get to use it much till next year . kinda pointless to buy n store away (then see it drop lower in price in 2021)
