Great deals OP - but folks be aware that in the last 3 months they have turned Alexa into a full time saleslady. Ask for the time and u get time PLUS "Any time is a great time for gift giving. Would you like some suggestions?" This is now in the program deep - and getting more intrusive by the day, no matter the request - and I am gonna gather up my beloved Echos and Dots (have had several of these since introduction) and sell them as a group on ebay. I don't need a "pop up ad" living in my house...

How's the sound on the spot compared to the echo dot 3?

Seconded. I just ignore her questions but she hasn't gotten the message yet. I need to dig into the app to see if I can disable the bs.

You can lock down your Alexa device and make it your bitch.
Mine give me zero ads and zero unwanted messages. Any time they have made any suggestions, I have remained silent. Now they rarely even try

I actually don't hear any of this on my Alexa. Could it be bc I disabled communications in the settings? Oh I also have do not disturb on

You know you can turn those off, right?

For example, was like first result searching: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www....stuff.html

I you make a statement like this, you should provide links to a How-To, or people just think its BS... plus, people will appreciate the help

Check out the Reddit thread where many have tried to disable and NONE have succeeded... https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonec..._the_time/

Don't think that's a great deal for the 500gb recast. Amazon has it on sale right now for 129.99. If it was the 1TB version then I would probably grab it. As mentioned already there has been ways of getting it new for 99.

How to stop Alexa from asking you to buy stuff

You can stop Alexa from asking if you want ideas for stuff to buy by changing some of the notification settings in the Alexa app on your phone. Here's what you do:

Open the Alexa app on your iPhone or Android phone.
Choose Settings.
Tap Notifications.
Select Amazon Shopping.
Turn off the option to "receive personalized recommendations and deals based on your shopping activity."
Also turn off "requests to rate products you've purchased" if you don't want those messages, either.
Turn off the option to receive notifications for "Order Updates (Inc. Subscribe & Save.)" If you don't want messages about saving money by subscribing for monthly deliveries.
