I dont have experience with the canon but i have had the brother 3770 for over a year and it is the best printer ive ever had. Print quality is very good and does duplex print and duplex scan. It's also compatible with apple AirPrint like a lot of printers, but it actually works well, unlike my previous dell.

Also works well for sending the occasional fax using google voice with an obihai200. Had an issue with an aftermarket toner, but once i swapped oit the chip from the oem toner, I haven't had any problems since. The biggest downside is that it has a large footprint and is very heavy.

Works well with a mac and mostly with chromebook. Could not print a doc properly from chromebook, but the problem turned put to be a bug with chromebook and never was able to print the doc.

I paid $260 a little over a year ago, and it goes on sale every couple of months. But that was another time, no clue what the price has been lately.
