Black Friday price of $219.99 for this printer is live now! Original cost $349.99.

Disclaimer: During pre-covid days, this used to sell around $170 on BF so not the best deal but still a good one in recent times.

Quick question : Would you recommend buying the protection plan with it?

you guys should just wait for it. This product can go lower as $169.99. I got it for that price and not even on the Black Friday Deal. 😂Tbh, i dont think this is a very great deal at all.
The amount of times people say something like this with no reference to exactly what deal they got...and then if you get them to follow up, you find out they got a deal on an inferior model and it wasn't nearly the deal they claimed it to be.

Bought one last year....

Scanner mechanism mangles documents.

Software is very poor.

Excellent printer, excellent price. Got this at the beginning of the COVID lockdown and use it many times a day for kids doing school at home. Got the aforementioned toner and works great, zero issues.

It really depends on how much printing you're going to be doing. If you're printing a lot and don't want to have to deal with a possibly slow respond time going through Canon, Best Buy generally has a swap protocol or at least for a similar model. But if you're not doing a lot of printing, it should last.

I've been eying the mf644cdw AIO printer. Which one should I get? 644 is still 300+, holding out for a price drop on that one.

Bought this printer last year and don't regret the purchase for a minute. Easy to set up, easy to use, and quality output for office/school work. Scanner is decent and has worked well for my purposes. I replaced a Brother B&W AIO laser and don't miss that one at all.

Is this an overkill for a home office printer? The reviews on this, specially for color printing is much better than the one mentioned in this post, obviously it's 100$ pricier too. Also weighs like 60+ pounds!

I have the 733 version of this printer and I can say it's an awesome device that still gets OTA updates from Canon which is nice. Also aftermarket toner is available for this printer. It is a little more then your Brother black toner but color is always going to be more expensive.

I don't think so. It is bigger than a standard printer but it has all the bells and whistles and you need all that room for all the toner carts needed to make color a reality. I have had the 733 version of this printer for 3 years now and it still works awesome no issues at all. I'm going to make the educated guess and say that this one you linked to is a slight refresh to the one I have. There is aftermarket toner for it as well which is a big help because the OEM toner from Canon is expensive as hell. Id say get it when it's on sale I was able to get the 733 model on sale at best buy for 280.

Can you share any more details on when you got it for $169 and where? I didn't see anything in past posts.

Just wondering how often it has been lower in the past

I think the last time it was on sale for $169.99 was last Black Friday.

I got the 664 version for about 180 last Nov. Pre covid so don't worry about that price.

I just ordered the generic toner posted to be sure I have some.

I've only used here and there at home. I keep it as wired to network with static IP so my laptops, Chromebooka, phones and desktop can all print and scan when on the WiFi. For mine I also fax when needed.

No issues at all it wakes and pages come out. I do often scan directly to a usb flash drive plugged into the front. For decade I preferred brother laser but this was too cheap to pass up and my other laser was 15yrs old and rollers were bad.

Thanks for the post. With more toner I can print more color as my school is back remote again. If only we had those FAR or close staples paper days...I'm down to my last 10 reams.
