Black Friday price of $219.99 for this printer is live now! Original cost $349.99.

Disclaimer: During pre-covid days, this used to sell around $170 on BF so not the best deal but still a good one in recent times.

Staples and Office Depot have the MF644CDW on sale for $275.

Yes, its $55 more, but it has the much-sought-after duplex scanning.

I've been eying the mf644cdw AIO printer. Which one should I get? 644 is still 300+, holding out for a price drop on that one.
Staples has that one for 275 right now. I wanted duplex scanning and faxing so it was worth the extra 50 to me. As people have said, these have been way lower in the not too distant past, but with the pandemic I don't think we will see better prices this season.

you guys should just wait for it. This product can go lower as $169.99. I got it for that price and not even on the Black Friday Deal. 😂Tbh, i dont think this is a very great deal at all.
Printers deals are impossible to find these day.

How are you printing to it with the Chromebooks? I currently have a Dell laser which is not supported by ChromeOS so we've been using cloud print, but that is going away 12/31. I've been looking for another laser since the kids print a lot for school, but haven't come up with one that seems to be supported by ChromeOS. I don't see this one listed in ChromeOS either, so I'm hesitant to buy if I'm going to have the same issue I have now and have the kids unable to (easily) print after 12/31.
I had a heck of a time trying to get Chromebooks to print to this. I even set up a CUPS printer server on my Raspberry Pi that worked for a while but then stopped working for some reason.

Eventually got it to work as a "PDF printer."

Frankly, it was an absolute pain, but if anyone else has other ideas, I'd love to hear them.

BTW, I've got the 644 version which is practically the same.

People should ask themselves just how badly they need a color printer. There have been excellent deals recently on this forum for Brother models (without color) for under $100. Very inexpensive toner (which lasts forever) and rock-solid reliability from Brother made it a no-brainer for me. I consider it one the best investments I've made for my home computing. For photos, both the office or drug store have high-end equipment and are only a few blocks away.

More people are working from home so they need a printer to print stuff instead of doing it on the office printer.

I'll take "when someone wants to scan both sides of the page" for $500, Alex.

I've encountered that with my old Canon MX922. What I've done to get it printing is run the printer troubleshooter. Prints for a while and then goes offline, then run the troubleshooter again. Seems to be dropping IP or something.
Did you set it up with a static IP address?
