So is this really as good as it gets for a laptop $1,200 or less? I'm not that much into these gaming laptops but my kid deserves one and I put a $1,200 limit. We are looking for something he can use for college as well as he will be in a computer science program.

My exact thoughts and reason for buying one. I'm stuck between this one or the Costco MSI deal on Black Friday.

I'd absolutely pay to get this one over the Costco one. The difference in both CPU and GPU is pretty large (especially the CPU, as i5 processors are getting a bit outdated). On top of that, you'd need to buy additional RAM for the MSI since 8 GB just isn't sufficient and chances are you'd want extra storage too.

On top of that, Best Buy has a better version of the same MSI laptop on sale for $749 right now (link below). It has a significantly better CPU and GPU, but just a 15-inch display instead of 17-inch. Unless you're dead-set on getting a 17-inch display, there's just no reason to consider the Costco option compared to the one from Best Buy.

Wrong costco deal. I'm talking about this:

10th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-10750H Processor
8GB NVIDIA GeForce® RTX 2070 Graphics
Intel Wi-Fi 6 201 (2x2) + Bluetooth® 5.1
17.3" FHD 144Hz 3ms Display
Steel Series RGB Backlight Keyboard with Anti-Ghost Key + Silver Lining

Not only is it the best price... but due to the shortage of Ryzen gaming laptops and that this one is deemed to be one of the better ones... You should jump before they are all gone.

It was this price with a "student ID - extra $100 in savings" as a pre sale just before school started. And then it went back to regular price and this is the first time I am seeing the 1TB version on sale since.

Hi guys, what is better between this HP and this MSI https://slickdeals.net/f/14554100-msi-gf65-15-6-laptop-120hz-fhd-i7-10750h-8gb-ram-512gb-ssd-gtx-166... ? Please give me some advice
This one has:

1. Better refresh rate
2. 2x memory
3. 2x storage
4. Much better processor for gaming.

It's not on the same level.

I think that's a great deal for $1,100 but 17" screen is not a popular setup. If you're really looking for a huge screen, that might be perfect. I am really holding out and waiting for a Costco deal just because of the extended warranty but this one is so tempting especially after watching the expert reviews from youtube. I reserved 1 for pickup and if something else comes up in 4 days,I can easily return it unopened.
